Happy 4th of July, at least that is what it is here in the US of A. Lots of folks like me have a paid holiday today and are free to do something fun or nothing at all, whichever makes us happiest. I know many are having cook outs and parties. Not me though. Just not having to work and still being paid for it always makes me happy enough. I don't have a plan for the day, but that doesn't mean anything.
I recently bought some new art supplies, different brands of paints and stencils mostly and a few other random things. I had played with some of the paints and ended up with a few collage papers that had bright pink and yellow, so it only made sense to play with some of them in my art journal.
But where's the flag? ok, ok... here's a bit of one. I took this photo on my Mom's porch last Sunday.
Now that's done, back to art...LOL....I finished this fun page a couple nights ago.
...and a B&W
Last night I wasn't sure what I wanted to do next. There's always so many choices. While I was rolling it around in my head, I replenished my container of papers. I pulled pages from coloring books and regular books and gathered a few pieces of other papers that I like to make my collage papers out of. This way when I want to create some collage papers next, I can have a variety ready to use right away.
I didn't intend on making it a collage paper night, but I did want to try out a few of the new paints to see what the colors looked like on paper. On the top left, the background colors were the new 2024 colors put out by DecoArt. After I put some swipes of each new color, I thought I should do more to it so I could use it for some unknown art piece later, so I took out some of my new stencils and put black designs over the swipes of new color. I thought it was beautiful as it is with those nice colors shining out from behind. It might be hard to tear it up, but of course I will. The others were also using some new colors that I bought and new stencils. I lazily created them as I watched TV in the background. It was fun and I liked how they came out. The one on the bottom left doesn't look as impressive here, but the colors seem a lot nicer to my real eye.
It was fun!
Our family never made a huge party deal out of the 4th of July. We flew our flags and someone here or there may have had a cookout, but it wasn't a tradition with us. Actually, it is 87 degrees out right now and it isn't even noon yet and the prediction is that it will get up to 97 before the day is over, so you won't catch this old girl celebrating anything outside ! If today is my day to kick the bucket, it's not going to be because of HEAT stroke ! 😂
Hope you all have or had a good day, wherever you are.
Love you !
Jacey
For some reason I like photos of my messy art table, so I leave you with this.
Stay cool! We're freezing here so I have a little envy but winter will be over soon thank goodness
