Spring Forward

Happy Saturday !

I stayed up half the night last night watching the Jesse Stone movies starring Tom Selleck. I enjoyed them. I started watching them on my Firestick last weekend and finished them up last night. There are 9 in total over the years and it is rumored that there could be another this year. I have never been the kind of person that goes ga-ga over actors, entertainers or sports people, but I don't think I've ever seen anything Tom was in that I didn't like. That being said.....

That meant I slept in this morning till 9 and here is it a little before 11 and I am still in my nightgown ! It made me laugh to type that.

I came to show you my latest art purchase. It is called "Spring Forward" and was painted by an artist named Judie Mulkey. It is the second piece I have bought from her Etsy shop. I made a post on the first one back in May and I have also included a photo of it down below.

You know I love abstract art and the more colorful, the better. I know attraction is in the eye of the beholder too. Isn't that a good thing? What if we all only liked the same things? Wouldn't the world then become very boringggggggggggg...? Anyway, Since I loved my first purchase, I have kept a watch on her shop along the way, knowing I wanted another, but just waiting for the right one to come along. She paints on many things, regular stretched canvas, canvas boards and paper. She also paints in many sizes and varied styles. I always check that when I see content and color I like on something she has done because I am not interested in buying paintings on paper or very tiny art. That very tiny art is very popular today it seems (but not with me for purchasing). Finally, this past week, this design came up and is on a wooden cradled panel. I loved it's colorful funkiness and whimsical nature. I loved the fat pot with the berry border and the round stubby pot feet. I loved the way the table is done beneath it with stripes like it could be an abstract wooden type table. I liked the colors that show through the stripes. I also loved the way the top of it was brimming with ... flowers ?? 😂

Although I know they are meant to be flowers in the most abstract way, somehow my brain wants to make it a pot full of .... party ! Horns and whistles and decor and assorted party favors, with some marshmallowy treats and other candy thrown in. A party in a pot ! It's always funny to me how our brains want to perceive things. YOU can see it too now that I said it, can't you ??

This is a photo of the first piece I bought by Judie that I blogged about last May. It is called Twisting the Night Away. Although it is "flowers" too, some of it looked like wide brimmed ladies hats to me.

When I received "Spring Forward" a couple of days ago, I hung it beside my work desk to keep me company and help keep my spirits up while I bore myself making money. LOL !!!! I also hung the previous painting near it. I didn't think about it till I did that, how similar a lot of the coloring is on them. I guess I'm just attracted to that ! Teals and blues, peaches and pinks and other colors with dashes of white thrown in here and there to give it energy. Judie doesn't only paint in these colors, in fact, some of her paintings are much more dark and muted.

I'm not disappointed at all as I love both of these, but I must say I think I like my newest one best. Don't tell the other one.... ok ???? We don't want disgruntled paintings hanging around and putting off negative vibes.

The lighting is coming in from the left on this photo which makes the first piece look much brighter than the second, but in equal lighting, that is not true.

When I started this post, I was sipping coffee in my nightgown (still am) and waiting for a grocery order to land that I ordered online last night. It arrived a few minutes ago so I had to stop and go out to get them them from the porch. I took the bags to the kitchen and put the refrigerated items in the frig, checking the expiration dates on each. I always do that as I unload and put away each item. I have been really lucky I think how it has mostly gone well without me picking out my own items. I mean, I order what I want, but I am not there to check dates or replace with something else if what I want isn't there or isn't as it should be. Occasionally though, I will receive an item that has expired that the shopper missed. Except that I then don't have that item, it is really easy to respond online and get a refund if needed. I haven't put away the rest of the grocery items yet, just didn't want the cool things sitting out while I finished creating this post.

I will now lazily sip some more coffee, go back to the kitchen, check the rest of the items and put them away. THEN I will finish loading the dishwasher and get it to whirring. I love that thing. I detest doing dishes by hand. I know it is a simple, nearly mindless chore, but still, for some reason I can't stand to do it ! LOL.... We all have our quirks, don't we?

I hope you are having a good day or evening wherever you are and that your hearts are happy.

Love you !

Jacey

Those sure are happy pieces!

They do make me happy ! Funny how some little pops of whimsical color on a canvas can do that.
