The Guillermo Del Toro exhibit was in town. The lobby was busy and there were line ups filled with excited fans!
The "Crimson peak" costumes caught my attention, they were absolutely beautiful...the textile of the dress were so rich , the shape and patterns of the victorian era was an influence. They were attractive! This inspires me greatly as a independent costume designer.
It was dark and surreal, his work is amazing and inspiring. I wonder what Guillermo imagines during his creative process.
He dug deep into the topic childhood & innocence with lots of memorabilia, the movie "The penslabyrinth" features a child as the main character lives in a fantasy world trying to escape the real world. It's very twisted with the art of the afterlife.
He had some featured artists displayed in his exhibit, and a ton of unique oddly antiques and trinkets. The sculptors were realistic, they had small details that had texture of realistic skin and hair.

After the exhibit I explored around the museum, they have a beautiful modern spiral stair case. My favourite part was the European art. I loved the religious paintings and monuments early 1400's - late 1700's. Medieval, Elizabethan Era, Renaissance, Baroque are my favourite European historical times.

Lovely post @jadakoi. That same exhibit came through Minneapolis right before going to Toronto. So glad you had a chance to see it. Actually, one of my friends creates unbelieveable automata that GDT and Peter Jackson collect. He’s on Steemit. @thomaskuntzart. He hasn’t posted yet, but you should follow him now. What a genius!
Yay, another Torontonian! You ever go to the "1st Thursday" parties there?
never heard of it, what is it?
Basically they turn the AGO in a giant bar/club/party. Worth checking out if you're in TO

Looks like an amazing place, Penslabyrinth is a fav of mine. Thanks for sharing a little peice of your life with us @jadakoi
Welcome to the platform.
All the best,
HR
Thank you :) yeah it was cool seeing the exhibit in person!
Toronto might be in my stars some day. Not for a while though ha ha.
The AGO is spectacular and located under OCAD which is like an artists wet dream prestige. I'm sure you can crash on @jaybird's couch 😂
LOL if I crashed on @jaybirds couch I would never get to see any of the sites, I'd just be tied up all the time. Besides @dan-atstarlite has the pool lol. If I stayed with the @steemit-foodie I would be well fed...not that @jaybird wouldn't get in the kitchen and make me a sandwich...but again I want to see the sites... So it is a hard call.
Didn't know @jaybird was into bondage😝 @dan-atstarlite is in my town and his pool is surrounded by conifers. You could befriend Jada, but you'd probably want to start by not calling her Jaka😝☝🏼️
"his pool is surrounded by conifers" lol what are you hinting at here. Thanks for the correction.
Ugh, pine needles stuck to wet feet😁
Well unless you are joining us you won't have to suffer. Or are the trees just obstructing your view? You are such perv. jbird's it is, I guess. Don't want you creeping me so close.
where are you from @artwatch
I'm on Vancouver Island BC.
the museum looks awesome and the artifacts look great, you must have enjoyed yourself
Nice click
You look fine but these exhibit pieces are fantastic! Color me surprised.
I'd just watched an interview about his bleak house. Would be great to see in real life. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for this virtual tour!
