Buddha Paintings, Endless Flow Of Inspiration. Story Of 3 Mystical Paths

in #art7 years ago

Many times I thought that I'm over my "Buddha" period. That all that was to be painted connected to the Buddha already poured through me. But I always come back.

It is probably because I am not looking at Buddha as a historical figure. Or as a religious leader. Or as a hero prince who gave up luxuries and set up on an arduous spiritual quest (although I do admire him for that a lot!).

I look at Buddha as a quality of Universal Consciousness. There are three basic mystical path leading to the same Truth. Obviously, there is only 1 absolute truth, but that can never be grasped by the mind, because mind is not a tool to "see the truth", but to play with the zillions of patterns and shapes of Divine Consciousness, rearrange them and create new ones. Mind can only take you so far because mind is the intellect, not what is the "real intelligence", which of course springs from a universal pool of wisdom of which mind is just a tiny small limited aspect.

Those of you who had transcending experiences in meditation or other moments know exactly what I am talking about:)

As you can see, I painted two similar Buddha studies. One sold, one is still for sale

Those three mystical path are Buddha path (path of compassion), Christ path (path of sacrifice) and the ancient path of Hermetical Alchemy.

Buddha (Gautama Siddhartha ) reached enlightenment by "allowing" everything, by yielding. At the final stage of his years long journey, just before he found THE TRUTH, he sit under the tree and let go so completely that all the old seeded sanshkaras blocked in his being (physical and energetical) came up to the surface and he had to face them. Sanskara (old stored karma) is on metaphysical level noting more and nothing less than stuck energy pattern from a life experience that you either suppressed and run away from (pain) or clinged to (attached) and did not want to let it go naturally away (pleasure). In the state of complete let go and allowing of life to take you wherever life wants to be (even if you're just sitting under the tree and ESPECIALLY if you're just sitting in silence), all the old stores sanskaras come to the surface. The only way to get rid of them forever and transcend their low karmic evergy to light is to face them without fear and staying centered, allowing them to play out whatever they had to play out.

The deepest fears of death is always the last one to face, to allow. That is why all sages say that you "HAVE TO DIE BEFORE YOU DIE" if you want to reach the state of enlightenment. That means that you have to let go of everything you thought true and real, your idea of world and truth, even your idea of self and personality, ESPECIALLY YOUR IDEA OF YOURSELF AND WHO YOU ARE!

Four Buddha paintings representing the what I call "Final Leap". We all have to face it, and we all WILL SUCCEED!

I was in that place of final leap several times, it's truly terrifying. I did not have the courage to take the final leap to the abyss of the unknown, otherwise you'd be talking to another Buddha now, another "Enlightened One".
Not yet. I am in no hurry. Everything happens for a perfect reason at a perfect time.

I paint small/medium size Buddha paintings in all sorts of set ups and backgrounds, as it floods into my imagination, usually as a relaxing technique in between painting much larger paintings.

I hope you like them!

That painting with the light filtering into the cave as the Buddha is meditation is amazing. Great work.

Thanks from my heart! I like that painting too, the light and darkness, divine play of opposites

I love, love your paintings. The Buddha paintings are beautiful and I enjoyed how you explain the paintings of it.

It must be amazing to be an artist like that, so creative and you have to have a great imagination to know what you are going to paint.

I used to love art, it was my best class in school years. But I could not paint or draw my own paintings, I had to have like a picture to look at and then draw it or paint it.

I can see the Buddha sitting under the tree. Love the pink tree and the pink leaves underneath.

If you love art you love it forever Jo ! Thank you for your comment, gonna check out your blog

Great article and great painting Jan. This article has given me an idea. I have created a lot of Oamaru Stone sculptures and I wonder if that’s something I could do in Bali. I love Sanur and that is where I want to be near too. Not sure if I could compete with the wonderful local sculptors in Bali or whether tourists would want to buy my work over that of a foreigner but would love your thoughts on that. I prefer my sculptures to have a function like being a lamp or a clock or birdcage. I can see the Buddha sitting under the tree. Great work

Don't compete and don't look around Mark bro. Always just do what you hearts tell you to do. Great idea and lovely spot to follow your heart! Thank yoU!

Thanks Jan, great advice.

Some amazing paintings ! Actually I don't know which my favorite is. It's hard to choose . But I think It has to be the one with the Sakura ! Mystical, Magical, Beautiful !

The sakura one was my favorite too. I had two actually, both sold very fast. Thank bro Dan!

Do you sell these for crypto ? What kind of price tags are we talking about ? The Sakura one is just too awesome

My thoughts:
Buddha is a spiritual quality, not a person. Person is Siddhartha. As Christos - where Jesus is the person on earth, but Christos is a high spiritual quality.
Buddha is the quality of Universal Consciousness, a motionless contemplation. Christos is the quality of Universal Love, who is always active.

Beautiful observation dear @kalemandra! Thank you for stopping by! Much Love!
