The Road Less Traveled. Let Your Passion Be Like Volcano

in #art7 years ago

I found a little forgotten gem for you today.

As I was going through my old painting folders on my laptop, I found this 2013 painting which I called "Road less traveled".

I really like this painting because it's so rare from my own personal perspective. It's quite a dark and mystical painting and nothing similar to what I paint now, and more importantly not really similar to what I was panting back in 2013 either. That's why I perceive it as "rare", at least for me.

That painting has a story. And I wrote the core message of that story on top of this painting when I was publishing it online back in the day.

The interesting thing about it is that I found two pictures of this painting - one with the story on top and one without it. That part is not interesting. But when I looked at it closer, I realized that there is a slight difference in the the pictures. One has a tree on the top of the hill and the other one depicts a volcano eruption at the very same spot.

The whole painting including the sky. But was this the final version?

What is mystifying for me is that for the heck of me I can't remember which version was final . If the one with the volcano or the one with the tree. I can't just go and look, because the painting is long sold and gone. But now that I found out, curiosity got the best of me-
I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW! :)

The volcano had its reason. I am inclined to believe that the final version was the one with the tree and the volcano is hidden under layer of oil paint, which I kinda like, it makes it even more mysterious. The reason for the volcano was quite obvious: it represents Passion.

Passion is the fuel to walk towards your dream, following the "Road less traveled". And passion is like an erupting volcano. It comes from within, it is scorching hot, and it has the power to melt away any obstacle in its way. It can be devastating but it can be lifegiving too...

The story that I wrote on top is mine and 5 years later I still see the truth in it.
It goes like this:

In life you will be constantly confronted by two choices: follow your heart or do the reasonable thing.

One is about being brave and living up to your dream and the second one is about surviving for the sake of convenience and satisfaction of other people's vision of yourself... One day you'll be dying and I am pretty sure you will look back at your life. I wish that in that moment you have no regrets about your past choices.

If it was just for today, BE UNREASONABLE and do what you feel not what you think you should do.

I understand that this is a very fine line to walk and the safest way not to cross it to the territory of selfishness, remember the golden rule: step on nobody on your way up. If it is the true way of your heart (and not ego in disguise of a heart), it will harm nobody and benefit the whole.

How many of us are working unfulfilling jobs or staying in relationships that do not make us happy because we think this is the only way? How many of us buried our dreams because we thought that we can't make a living out of them?

I hope that today's story inspired you a bit.

Now go and be that volcano!!

Thank you very much for reading, commenting, upvoting and resteeming!

wow great thought provoking paintings.keep it up @jankasparec

You've painted a strong picture. Strong enough to change people's minds.
The third image with the wordings had me thinking about what I am doing with my life. Mind says find a work related to what I've studies. That sounds like the right thing to do. Heart says to make videos for a living. Now it's a tough decision but I'm just going with the flow. Good stuff man!

Great comment bro, thanks for taking time reading my blog. I know it's a tough one, but if you follow your heart, it will eventually pay off 100 fold. I am telling you this from my personal experience not a book. I used to work in finance for huge corporations like like Microsoft and I thought I could never make that money by art. Sure I was "starving artist" for few years, but now I make 10times more than before, and I'm only getting started. Money comes when you give it up and follow your heart. All the best @wandereronwheels !

Seems like Universe is sending me a message through you! :D

The world is unreasonable so we should just say 'screw it!' and be unreasonable back :) We only live once anyways.

what I really meant is this: the word "unreasonable" comes from "reason" and what really is reason? IT's a product of thinking mind, not heart. Heart and mind have not much in common. Mind confused its role to analyze reality and judge what is good or not, but that's actually not the mind's role. we just made it so in our "modern consumerism world". Any aboriginal cultures have much greater wisdom and know that mind can be (and currently is) mankind's greatest enemy. The compulsive thinking of vast majority of humans keeps us stuck in maia, the great illusion. Mind over matter yes, but heart over mind. Thanks for your comment Mike bro!

There definitely is a lot of wisdom in the older cultures. Are there any books you'd recommend? Always looking to expand my horizons. :)

Tons. But the one that speaks to me the most at this time is Unthetered Soul from Martin Singer

Excellent photograpgy @jankasparec

I love the way you've painted the mist, gives the painting an eerie feel to it. Beautiful and meaningful artwork!
I've only recently started doing the things that I've always wanted to do. Mixing music was one of them. I'd been making a list of songs that'd sound well together but never came around to making them.
Finally, a couple or so days back I've already crossed two items from that list! It feels amazing when you sit back and look at the finished art piece - be it music or painting!
Keep posting such great works, wish you all the success in following your passion! :)

Thanks a lot! Wishing you great success!

It's great! Thank you for sharing!

This is really impressive. The story behind the painting is really inspiring and one thing that struck me is that often time people tend to think fulfilment comes from the high paying job rather it comes from doing that thing that you would unconsciously do for free yet engulfed by happiness knowing that you created or made something ingenious. That inner joy, that oozes out of your soul, as a result from what you have done is what really brings utmost fulfilment. Great post!

Really especially Picture.
There is magic, mystic in it and looks fantastic.
Your words to the picture are so true.

My life motto is
"Be yourself and enjoy life"
