Hi, Steemit friends!
I got this yesterday:
It is a work by the famous contemporary artist Ai Weiwei called Artist's Hand.
It was sold for only $600 during the release on eBay(!). Unfortunately, I was not into art at that moment. My purchase price was significantly higher. It is made of cast urethane resin multiple with electroplated rhodium.
The artwork was sold for almost £7000 recently at Phillips.
The art world is almost as unregulated and volatile as the crypto space. It is very complementary to cryptos. Many contemporary artists, such as AFK (famous for the Listhaug painting) take payment in cryptos.
A true masterpiece !
Thanks!
That reminds me of the scene in which Gekko talks to Bud.
For how much money would Gekko sell this artwork that you bought?
That’s funny, I need me one of those 😂
You should. There are 1000 of them. They are sold for pretty hefty prices right now. But they might fall back in price a little after the hype from the Phillips sale. I had to have one though and got a pretty could deal, and I did not have the patience to monitor the price development.
7,000 Pounds! How much is its weight, in rhodium?
Dunno. I now see that it is made of cast urethane resin multiple with electroplated rhodium.
I see that rhodium is $2260/oz. I guess that it is sold with a hefty premium (being only electroplated with rhodium).
Are you into art collecting Janus?
Yes, I have educated myself and started collecting some contemporary art lately.
Do you find it to be a very mentally stimulating activity or one that you come to just occasionally, maybe when you have a bit more time on your hands and it's just something to do? Also, if I were to start getting into it having basically no experience, where do I even begin?
Is digital art even a thing when it comes to art collecting? :-)
I have just started so I guess I am a newbie, but I usually pick up on things fast. I am creative and artistic myself, so I do not find it that hard to see what is good art and not. I also like the mental stimulation of doing research and learn about art in general. I do not know that much about digital art yet, unfortunately. But if you are interested you are going to learn a lot.
Woo-hoo I like it! Very interesting piece of art!
The details are impeccable. The creases on the surface gave it an extra touch of realism. Its like staring at the hand of a shiny platinum god giving me the middle finger lol
Agreed. You can almost see the sweat pores.
Paying for art in crypto. That is new to me. I do like this piece! Your title definitely got my attention.
Thanks! I am sure paying with cryptos for will become mainstream soon.
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
Great acquisition!! I absolutely looooove Ai Wei Wei. I used to have the pictures of him smashing pots as my laptop screensaver.
Cool. I see you are an artist yourself. Looking forward to seeing more of your artwork.
Hey thanks :) I'm going to start posting some of my stuff on here!
Ha that's great! Ai Weiwei is rad, he's got a funny quote: "Overturning police cars is a super-intense workout. It’s probably the only sport I enjoy."
McCain called all Trump supporters a bunch of crazies so yeah, I assume it was intended for us.
We're crazy because we don't buy their bullshit anymore. I wont give a rats ass when that old traitor dies and burns in hell although I would like to see him face justice on this earth first.
who can help me sell my art in crypto. any advise how i can do that, something i dont know ?
Thats
dope
LOL that's very cool. :)
Now a days all is art, maybe I am not and expert but go ahead
lol that's the big fingering @janusface.
that's simply incredible the art is truly booming and looks like future will be truly unregulated everywhere
