Today I would like to share my painting '' Fortuna ''. It's oil and acrylic on canvas , 210 cm x 150 cm
Fortuna was the goddess of fortune and the personification of luck in Roman religion. She is often depicted with a wheel of fortune. In medieval and ancient philosophy it is a symbol of the capricious nature of Fate. The wheel spins it at random, changing the positions of those who are on the wheel: some suffer great misfortune, others gain windfalls. If the water rises or you get wings, who knows ?
Here some Details :
Thank you for taking your time and stopping by. I hope you enjoy !
is that Kiera Knightley?
Fortuna has many faces , perhaps this is Kiera Knightley and perhaps not ......
Absolutely beautiful <3 Love the symbolism as well. Following you for more :)
Thank you very much !
Wow that's a big painting! Nice one, you've got that talent for realism, me more abstract lol :)
Many thanks !
You have a fine and neat style. Especially pleasing is how you work the light in your paintings (as well as the realistic proportions).
Very nice - I'll pop back in every now and then to see what you're about.
Congratulations on this fine piece!
Kindest regards,
Esa
Thank you very much , I really appreciate it !
Wow this really is a beautiful painting. I love the mythology you incorperated, id like to do some myth related art soon honestly. I enjoy the feminine figure, masterfully painted, and especially the background colour works really well with it all. Kind of gives it a cold feeling, in a way that goes along with the nature of fate as you were describing. The goddess does not really seem all that warm either, as a goddess of fate should.
She does however, seem very mysterious and powerful, and I like how she is positioned and her hands are in the water. It makes me wonder, is she cleaning them? Is she not afraid to get her hands dirty?
Thank you very much ! I'm glad you like it !
Absolutely extraordinary work! I love the color combination and of course the skillful way this all is done. The symbolism reminds me of the wheel of fortune in the Tarot.
Thank you very much ! I very appreciate it !
That eagle sure knows how to keep his balance.
Many thanks , glad you like it !
Well done...I like your developed style. Best wishes for the New Year.
Thank you very much , I wish you all the best , too !
Oh my this is so lovely and I adore the themes/meanings behind the symbolism. Resonates with my life(!) right now as I feel so fortunate and ponder what to credit...karma, luck, fate, etc (its all of it, but still I ponder 🤔😉)
I'm glad you like it ! Thank you very much !
Very beautiful painting! I like very much this tone of green and the symbolism.
Thank you very much !
very beautiful wheel of fortune :)
Thanks !

Thank you @thermoplastic , it is my pleasure to hear you like it!
i love oil painting, and this painting is great, just wondering whether you use Alaprima wet on wet method , or you go the old layering style ?
Thank you very much ! I worked with both methods using brushes and japan scraper
Beautiful composition and colours. The wheel looks like it's painted with gold! I will study this artwork @jaro-art! I like Keira and the eagle, and the bittersweet theme of fortune.
Thank you very much ! I'm glad you like it !
This year one of my goals is to focus more on my artistic side and finding my niche. My grandmother was an artist. She used oil pastels and sometimes charcoal. She loved doing portraits of wrinkly old men with a ton of character. In her 80's she started to switch things up a bit and challenge herself. She was so inspiring. Looking at your work brings inspiration on the same level.
