3D Sculpting! Facial Expression #mudbox

in #art7 years ago

During my time developing games, of the many challenges involved, having to use either new or unfamilar software and techniques is a common occurance. One of which was finding a way of creating detailed high-poly 3D sculptures for screenshots, animation cut-scenes and promotional art . Coming from a maya background (before the sculpting tools), I was used to thinking in units and symmetry, the idea of breaking the norm and using sculpting tools rather than my trusty predictable manipulator tool gave me the sweats.

Although i had to give it a try, so i got myself the latest version of Mudbox from Autodesk and got to practising. After many failed attempts, getting used to the brushes and their properties. Starting with a base mesh helped massively. As simple meshes can be imported to mudbox from maya , you can really define your 3D models. Take a look at my practice at face sculpting.
