Hi Guys,
Jonny here, if you read my intro post then you will know I have a few issues with anxiety and depression.
I decided to start drawing so that my mind could have a little break from reality. I am finding it extremely therapeutic and have a great sense of achievement from turning a blank page into something I can enjoy.
In this series you will see my skills progress and my confidence grow when putting pen to paper.
In my first drawing I decided to learn the basics of shading by watching a few youtube tutorials.
I used to always think going dart to light was the way but soon realised more time invested in building a series of light layers can have a greater effect and gives you much more control.
I have never been able to draw faces before but learned that it isn't so much about lines but more about patches of shade.
Once I had the basic shape I learned I could create contours and depth by looking at each part of the drawing not as an object, but as a block of dark and light.
Below is the finished result. (Virgin Mary statue by Michaelangelo, close up of her face)
This is the first drawing I've done in 17 years other than doodles so please be nice.
If you have any tips for me or want to let me now when you think, say Hi in the comments below.
Thanks for reading, more drawing posts coming soon!
Thanks
Jonny

Thanks, I think haha
Just look at how hard this cute little minnow is trying to reach for an up vote.
Doesn't he deserve to get one?
Haha, cheers Barry, I don't think I have enough steem power or knowledge of blogging to earn any upvotes I'm not here to trade follows or anything It's just nice to be able to let it out on steemit.
everyone is delegated steem power starting out and is capable of up voting no matter what ;D check your wallet you should have steem in brackets
