A last breath... process of my oilpainting - Ready made

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hello friends of steemit! On this occasion I bring you the English version of one of my works, this time it is an experimental piece of art between traditional painting and found object or Ready made, first I will show a little of the painting process and then show how I managed to merge this painting with objects that I found on the streets of my city and occasionally taken in houses of well-known people, so here we go!

But first a spoiler xD ...

Painting already finished

I will start saying that this model is my official model for the moment, and the only one I can afford, to put it in some way, he is my cousin and he volunteers to pose for 3 hours or up to 4 on certain days of the week meanwhile he uses my pc at night or sometimes I give him "durofrios", that are sold in the corner of my house, which are literally flavored ice packets. I know it looks bad and I'm exploiting him, maybe, but that's what I have now, I will pay him what he deserves when I sell some paintings, although, for him just the feeling of being reflected in a painting makes him feel very flattered.

Some time ago I came up with the idea of this series of works where the main point would focus on blinded characters who feel that they have lost everything just at the same moment where a suicidal thought passes through their mind or they have found themselves in a highest grade of anxiety and dubiety trapped in a mental prison or their own destructive thoughts.

In this work I captured the masculine image in the right moment, when a person falls down where everything seems impossible to solve, it is seen as a broken, desolate, agonizing human being, immersed in the existential abyss, without purpose, the crudest reality of an inert dispossession, with the rope up to the neck and without a possible exit. suffocated by external situations and even self-flagellated by his own destructive thoughts.

As in all my works, I start by organizing the stage looking for the pose that clearly expresses what I want to transmit and that the body of the model can itself shows naturally that purpose.

then I start by choosing the chromatic composition that I need, for this work the brown tones are the ones that I feel should have the protagonists, after having organized the chosen tones I start with general staining with the tone that predominates in the painting, this stained I do it on the entire surface of the canvas; choosing previously the size, then I start looking for the shape of the model with the brush.

As you can see at this point the painting is in black and white, this was because at first I was thought the painting as a grisaille. Although from the beginning I had my doubts but I just kept painting until this point in which I confirmed that brown would express what I feel better and that it made a harmonious game with the found elements that I will explain later, make the decision to start all over again.

This moment is a reflection to understand that we can not get so much from the beginning to creations or things that we get with some effort, and more for people who are starting and tend to have a high level of craving to see finished their work , craving is the biggest enemy we can have when it comes to creating, they do not allow you to see clearly the process and you suppress the decisions which makes you more likely to be frustrated and damage everything.

I was painting at latenight and because of this the model was falling asleep and the smartest decision was to take a picture and start all over again but from a photo .. the important thing is that the analysis of the shape of the gesture of the model already had it in mind, then in another post I will talk about the differences of painting from nature and painting through a photograph.

Since I had the photo change the painting methodology and I started with a pencil drawing before proceeding to paint locally zone by area, focusing on the sections of the body separately, this only allows the photograph since there is no movement in the model.

Here in my methodology my painting order is quite messy in the way that I leave many sections unpainted and I begin to detail others, this for those who are just beginning to paint is a very common mistake that brings enough problems due to bad mixtures caused by optical illusions due to tone contrast

This is an example of focusing too much on the area of the waist up and leaving the areas of the legs voted:

but as I said before as it is a photograph there are not any problems since the body is static and the tones-values are never going to change.

and so the final painting is compared to the first spots

Now being in the middle of the process and already having all the three-dimensional elements located, it was only necessary to join them in such a way that all the elements will work and communicate with each other, the elements that I chose are chains, barbed wires, a large frame, and a stone.

and finally the piece remains this way:

Still lacks a little assembly and the location is fatal but the piece was in the workshops of the uni and I have access to it until January then this is what there is at the moment.

Now I would like to share with you the text that I wrote and took me to make this piece just to understand a little more about what goes ...

In this way:

I sank slowly into the toxic puddle created by my thoughts falling slowly like an inert object, like a small impotent rock denied to cause any movement that would propel me to the surface, it fell without purpose or any hope. It seems that the only thing that was good was to continue to immerse myself more and more self-flagellating, constantly crying, I was in an abyss in which I convinced myself to feel comfortable to feel at home, although the agony and anxiety consumed me. I deceived myself maybe out of fear or tiredness to keep trying, the fact is that I had vague memories of the surface, I did not remember other atmospheres, other environments beyond the mud that surrounded me, I only saw in the distance puddles foreign to mine that looked so similar so decadent.

I can say that the chains, barbed wire and guallas, are elements associated to the confinement, to the protection of something by means of the union of two or more elements that delimit or create barriers, where the repression and suffering related to the proximity between the painting, the chains and wires, given that these are surrounding and tying the figure represented in the painting as if it were a mental prison. The stone is an element of drag, which falls and points in a direction in descent, falling more and more and lower until it reaches a place without exit pressing and maintaining pressure on a fragile mind and anxiously looking for the moment of decision, full of uncertainty and anxieties about to make a final decision in which to think about continuing or stopping and rest forever, falling slowly like an inert object, like a small impotent rock denied to cause any movement that would give the impulse to the surface.

See yoy on the next post where I will show a longer step by step about how to paint an oilpainting from nature...

good vibes .. !!
