Two-Point Stance #6 - Slug Dragons and Warrior Girls

in #art7 years ago

Salutations, Steemit!

I bring with me today's sketches of the day! I had some time today to work on a few projects. One of which is the Dragon Art Contest hosted by @kristyglas, who by herself is a fantastic artist in her own right. I highly suggest checking out her work!

So far I have only brainstormed an idea, and done the very basic sketch work out. I will take my time on this to create a good entry! Growing up, dragons were some of my favorite things to draw. However I have not done so in years! It will take some time to get used to them once more. My preliminary sketch is of a beetle-type reptile! Haha

Anyhow! Let's get to the images!
First off, this was a semi-old doodle that I retooled a bit:
grinder.jpg
Of course, it features my favorite original character, Karssa. I wanted to work on gripping and hands specifically, as that's one area where I need a lot of work! So I actually started with the hands and worked my way backwards! She was drawn in SketchBook Pro on my ipad, before being edited in CSP on the surface pro.

For a final touch, I locked transparency on the lineart, and colored it a bit rainbow by using the airbrush tool. First with red, then experimenting like my last drawing, the multicolored rose. I eventually ended up with an effect from purple, to brown, orange, a splash of green, yellow, and red.

The character actually does not use two handed swords, but I wanted to experiment with the pose! I think the shoulder and trunk is a bit off. But improvements!
This was just a sketch for today, as I was busy doing the 'mon of the day, #705, Sliggoo!
Sliggoo.png
Sliggoo is a snail-dragon. It evolves from Goomy, and is the pre-evolution for Goodra. The slime it generates is said to be able to dissolve anything. Oddly, while evolving, Sliggoo's eyes de-volve - meaning it is completely blind. Apparently it's own slime causes this effect! Sliggoo uses the four antennae on its head in order to sense objects.

Doing these sketches digitally, they still feel very basic. I tried to gradient my selection before adding some cel shading, though I probably used too wide of a brush while doing so! More work means improvements, though!

I am not the biggest fan of the Goodra line myself. But they will still be drawn!
Only 797 more days to go for the whole Pokedex!

I hope you enjoy! Keep going strong!
thank you!.gif
