Bonsai | Lires Artwork Process | Original Art | Step-by-Step

I love illustrating vegetation. There's something about it that's so pleasant to the eyes. Today I'll be taking you to a step-by-step process of my artwork, Bonsai.

Before I begin, I would just like to suggest that you vote for @curie for witness here https://steemit.com/~witnesses. @curie has helped a lot of artist who's just starting here on steemit, just like me.

Sketching

Sketching something leafy isn't really hard. You just have to doodle something representing leaves. It doesn't have to be accurate.

Inking

Inking on the other hand, IS.

Flats

Applying flats on vegetation is also tedious.

Painting

Back when I painted this, I was still inexperienced in painting trees. ^-^;

Final Product

Added some textures & color adjustments.

I hope you found this art process worth your while. I'll try to post more. ^-^
Bye for now!

you have such an appealing style! did you use gradients to paint the leaves, or did you do it manually? And did you use the pen or brush tool for the lineart? i find my own lineart ends up pretty messy :/ looking forward to see more!

Thanks! :D

I painted the leaves manually. I did the line art in Manga Studio and used a tool called G-Pen. Some people love messy line art! I just prefer clean on mine. ^-^

oo interesting! So did you do the color in Manga Studio too? I had a version that's pretty old, but I see a lot of art pros using it. I hear it's better for inking...dusts off copy

I used Easy Paint Tool SAI for the colors.

It is! But the latest version is good for coloring too. I wanted to learn coloring there but is just too lazy. ^-^;

hmm...i shud look into it lol. i see some great stuff colored in it but...yeah...lazy lol. i should master photoshop first...

I like clean Line art too!

It was so nice to see and read your description from step to step. I like how the shadowing on the trees shows leave shapes, even if they weren't present in the line art. Also, cropping the background and having the tree pop out in front is such a simple but effective touch. Very professional!

I'm glad you noticed! :D Thanks man!

hi Bonsia, great work , may i ask what is the final product here? it looks for me as an asset for 2d/3d game as an illustrator and 3d artist point of view, hope to see more

It was commissioned from me for a personal website. ^-^

You bought the art?

Nope. I made it. ^-^

Nice work! I really like the style!

Thanks!

I also make art especially 3d. Which software did you use here and can you tell me how curie helped you to grow here. I also want to get recognition here. Followed you for future lessons in art.

Cool! @curie upvotes people that put quality content and are just starting up and they put you on a list of people that they've upvoted on their blog. Dude, you have 834 followers compared to my 80. I don't think you have any problems getting recognition. :D

I have never seen @curie to upvote my posts.Can you do one favor to me, how can I learn the art you are making here?

Hmm.. I don't think there really is a specific way to influence how @curie upvotes. I just post my artwork process and sometimes they upvote it & sometimes they don't.

There's a ton of ways to learn digital art! :D I can't assure you a fast way but, with a PC, a graphic tablet, some inspiration and a whole LOT of patience, you'll be able to do something like this or even make something BETTER! :D

I make digital painting in photoshop sometimes but the art you are making is really cool. I want to master it. Which youtube channel you follow to make it?

That's great! Since you already have experience with digital art, I'm sure you won't have problems pursuing this kind of style. All you need to do is do it more often. I don't follow any youtube channels for it. ^-^;
