[isketch] Hello Moon

in #art6 years ago

I think I'm on a role! I normally don't drink coffee due to having plentiful amount of energy to myself but I feel like my brain is going into overload. Here's this evening's quick fun: Hello Moon!

This sketch is done using an iPad Pro using the Procreate app. As with my other sketches I have been relying on the Sketching – HB Pencil brush (comes with the app) to sketch out my lines. I think I've found my nitch with this brush since it resembles the traditional pencil so much and I've been comfortable with the type of lines it outputs.

I took out one of my notebooks this evening so that I may take notes during my Dungeons & Dragons session when I saw a note I wrote to myself earlier this year. I don't know if this is weird but I like leaving myself notes, I'll write goals, hopes and dreams to myself and then stash them away in books or different places to find either a year or years down the road.

Still using the same brush I started shading in my scene.

This particular note I wrote back in March states:

I want to draw, draw a feeling. What is that feeling?

Anger? Abandonment? Confusion? Sadness? Wondering? Lost?

So many words in the English language but I can't pinpoint one.

I saw an image done by a painter who lost her ability to paint with her arms, she painted her frustrations with a beautiful imagery of a bird trying to fly being weighed down by a rock.

I would...draw an elephant looking at the moon.

And then I got up, got my iPad and proceeded to draw an elephant looking up at the moon. (And how fitting this evening happens to be close to a full moon as well!).

I knew I couldn't stop with the HB pencil brush and was experimenting with different brushes/colors to make this image feel more complete.

I finally found my final brush with Touchups - Zombie Skin. The brokenness of this brush helped create the sky and mixture of colors I was looking for.

I'm so happy, back in March I was struggling drawing an elephant but this evening it felt like it was flowing out from my fingertips. I hope you are enjoying looking up at the moon little one!

Very lovely, you can tell the loneliness of the elephant as it moons for the moon... A wonderful drawing :)

Awww super thanks! I'm glad I was able to express that emotion through the drawing. <3

It is really beautiful :) Great job!

Thank you! <3

Andy you play D&D! I am one of your biggest fand now.

Haha! Yay! I'm glad you like! And you're a D&D player too!?

Yes! I played a long time ago and then had a family. My son just started another game and we are getting play again. Now it's with my grandchildren! So fun.
