The Dead Angel
A broken little girl stuck within a violent scheme
Hoping one day to escape this violent dream
Every waking minute she spent making a plan
Looking for a way to escape this abusive man
He continues to show her nothing else but hate
Knowing that the hate is making her suffocate
But he feeds off her tears and his broken lies
Just to watch her scream out in horrific cries
It's almost like he has some disgusting need
To spread his toxicness like a growing weed
He's addicted to watching her beg and plead
But gets the most pleasure watching her bleed
One day she met a man who said he loved her smile
He made her happy she said please stay for a while
The man tried to convince her that she must leave
He begged and he promised he would never deceive
She told him that one day she would pack and go
Not knowing that night she would receieve a fatal blow
When she walked in she looked straight into his gun
He stood there screaming I hope you had your fun
Lying on the floor realizing she shouldn't of returned
Her skin soaked in blood every inch of her burned
And as her eyes looked up to the piercing blue sky
A tear rolled down her cheek and she let out a final cry
Though no one would ever understand the reason why
This beautiful soul full of life had to give up and die

A Few Questions:
I wanted to ask @kristyyd some questions about her poem.
Question 1
What events transpired that made you want to write the poem "The Dead Angel"?
Response 1
To be honest it's something I've gone through and watched too many others go through. It's kind of my way of dealing with it and staying strong and helping others stay strong since so many women feel helpless. It often takes a long time to get the help needed. It's not always physical abuse, but mental too. Unfortunately not everyone agrees with that, but it can be just as painful. Writing is a nice release of pressure and anxiety without the drugs. It's a way of talking without talking if you know what I mean.
Question 2
What situation would you consider the final straw that resulted you into making a poem?
Response 2
The situation that caused me to write was feeling helpless, like no one would listen or understand what I'm going through. I figured maybe through writing some people could begin to understand how difficult and scary this situation can be, but those that need help too, help them see they're not alone. Sometimes that's all a woman or man has-a silent way of speaking up. So if someone can read my poem that's going through this and it inspires them to get help or reach out, I've more than done what I need to.
Question 3
What is one tip you would give someone that wanted to start to write poetry?
Response 3
One tip Id give to someone starting to write poetry-write what you love and mean it. Don't be afraid to include personal stories. People understand you're human and it's not weird to have suffered pain or loss. The more emotion you have In your writing that's not forced, the more people will feel it.
