🔵 PRINTING for you and your kids - tutorial

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hello mates, just a few days ago I wanted to buy some lino blocks for linocut, but I didn´t like the granularity and hardness of it.

I teach children from five years, so it would be difficult for them to cut in such a rigid material. Then I found polystyrene sheets on ebay. The surface is soft and you can cut into it just with a pencil, or toothpic.

The sheets are in the box of 25 pieces.

The sheets are in a size A4 and thick about 3mm. I cut it in half just to try it.

I tried to cut into in with more tools, but the pencil seems to be the best.

I used black printing color. It was made for linocut, but worked well here also.

Here is the result. The sheet is really soft and the edges are not sharp always and you cant create really thick line, but for kids it is enough.

So I tried it at school. Students were happy about it and they were so excited after the print came out. They wanted to cover the sheet with the roller on their own.

Here are the results:

Children love the techniques which are more like an experiment. They enjoy discovering and surprise, so the printing offers all of it.

Thanks for watching!

It is good to be a teacher and it's great to be a teacher of arts))

This looks so fun. I didn't experience print making of this magnitude until I was in college. I mean, we did the potatoes when I was in Kindergarten I think. Other than that, we were sticking tissue paper squares to paper or using traditional supplies like crayons.

This must have been so cool for the kids. I wonder how this early exposure to more advanced techniques will make them better artists in the future. Thanks for sharing.

kids love various techniques, they want something new everytime, so I try to bring something new at least once a month. It is good for them to find out the possibilities of art sooner :)
