As you already know, I love to draw. Recently I am studying a new material for me - oil pastel.

I try different methods, mostly by inventing them in the process of drawing. Sometimes I completely cover the paper, making the image more realistic, and sometimes I leave the finishing touches, as in this figure.
I have long wanted to draw an owl, her eyes in photos always amazed me. Therefore, I paid special attention to the eyes in this figure. I also like her color. At first glance, the feathers of the owls are gray, but if you look closely, they have very different spots of color and shades. Since the artist's goal is to show people what they can not always see for themselves, I tried to show all the variety of gray.
When I finished drawing, I took pictures of the picture in different situations. Choose for viewing what is closer and more pleasant for your perception.

И на таком небольшом формате рисовать толстыми мелками наверное сложно...У вас очень здорово получились мелкие детали и штрихи.
Спасибо ) да, приходится изощряться, чтобы сделать мелкие детали. Интересно было бы попробовать карандаши, о которых вы рассказывали, будут ли они смешиваться со стандартными мелками...
Мне в художественном магазине сказали, что карандаши как раз для деталей используют вместе с мелками. И что ими большие площади не рисуют. Но они имели ввиду сухую пастель, наверное...а с масляной не знаю как
Масляные должны быть очень мягкими, чтобы была возможность наносить вторым слоем, наверное нет таких. Если будет возможность, спросите пожалуйста в магазине.
Хорошо спрошу! Я нашла такой отличный магазин для художников! Там даже есть стол, где можно попробовать материалы. Я наконец-то нашла бумагу на которой мои пастельные карандаши нормально рисуют и не нервируют меня.

What a lovely beauty! I'm an owl-enthusiast, and love every kind of these big-eyed feather-balls! Oil pastel would be a real challenge for me. Once I've bought a 24 color kit, but did not use them yet.

This is an ordinary paper for pastels, it has a slight relief. I'll be happy to watch your work!
Is this the piece you meant? It is lovely. What do you use to smudge it with? I usually use my finger or a hard oil brush. Sometimes I use a sqidgy or paintpusher for details. You can create different effects with a tiny bit of oil medium but I tend to avoid that
I mix the color only at the expense of the crayons themselves. I paint on plain paper without artistic ground, if I use oil to dissolve it will make paper fat around. How to avoid this?

Honesly I do not use mediums for that reason; I just use softer brands of pastels and usually a hard paint brush or my finger.
