The Podyachesky bridge got its name thanks to the nearby Grand Podyacheskaya Street. Nearby are also the Middle and Small Podyacheskaya Street. The streets got their name because of the small officials who settled on them (the podiyaks are the assistants of the deacons, clerks).
The first wooden pedestrian bridge on this place was built in 1906.
In 1971 - 1972, a single-span reinforced concrete bridge was built on this site. The authors of the project were engineer Sobolev and architect Noskov. At the corners of the bridge were installed four granite obelisks with lanterns, which were removed from the dismantled Alexander Bridge across the Vvedensky Canal at the confluence of the Fontanka River.

Wow.. like a real pict.. great post @megamax
