FIRST TRY of PIXEL ART GIF

in #art7 years ago (edited)

If you read my previous pixel art post (https://steemit.com/art/@megii/first-try-of-pixel-art) you know, that I have participated in pixel art weekly contest of @jonny-clearwater. It was a really nice experience for me. They were so kind to my first try of pixel art and they even chose me as the winner (https://steemit.com/pixelartweekly/@jonny-clearwater/3m848s-pixel-art-weekly-we-have-a-winner).

All of this was a great motivation for me, so I decided to create pixel art gif for actual pixel art weekly contest (https://steemit.com/pixelartweekly/@jonny-clearwater/pixel-art-weekly-round-11-theme-announcement-win-steem).

The theme is insect this time. First what came to my mind was butterfly, because I'm not lover of the insect and butterfly is one of the few I can stand. What always suprised me was how from that ugly caterpillar came up something so beautiful as butterfly. Actually my caterpillar illustration is cute, but the real caterpillars aren't cute at all, at least not for me. Anyways I decided to create this beautiful metamorphosis with the help of animation.

First step was to create caterpillar.

I wanted it to walk, then curl up and change into a pupa in the first part of my animation.

So I drew the pupa.

And made a transition between caterpillar and pupa. This is actually second part of my gif.

I obviously needed a butterfly for my third part. I love blue butterflies, because they are not common and that's why I created one.

Another part of the animation creates blue butterfly getting out of the pupa.

And the last motion I wanted to animate is about this butterfly flying away out of the screen.

Finally I put these motions together and this it what came out of it.

Thank you and see you in my next post.
