This is exactly what I needed. Last year I missed to photograph the fireworks that is here during the Swiss birthday on 1st of August (I mixed up the days) and this year I can't miss out on this opportunity. I haven't shot fireworks before and I was a little nervous about that but with your guide I'm sure I will manage. I just finally need to get that remote..

Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!

I'm glad I was able to help! At least I know someone out there is getting something from this post 😛.

There will be several opportunities for fireworks once the weather gets warm. It's worth taking the effort to go see them. Plus its a reason to get out the house!

You still have time to get the remote but remember a wired one is best so you can lock it in and be in the moment enjoying the show. Once you have your settings locked in you are good to go but it takes a while to find the settings that'll make you happy. Just remember to keep the ISO as low as possible to get clean images. Play around with the shutter speed as that's the most important factor in the equation.

Thanks again and greetings from NYC USA!

Very cool!

Thanks for the support! ✌️

omg this post is something needed in my life. I always get fascinated by two kinds of pictures - the stars in milky way and the fireworks. I always used to think I can capture them only with expensive camera and I need to be a professional photographer. But oh no babaayy, fireworks sounds like a possibility after reading this post. Thank you for sharing this and congrats on your curie vote :):)

"this post is something needed in my life" LOL

Fireworks are easy but shooting the Milky Way is a lot of work! You have to find a remote location without any light pollution, use an app to find a date where the galactic center is on the horizon, then use a specialized ultra-wide angle lens with a 1.4 aperture, then you have to pray the day you go out isn't cloudy!

I've been wanting to shoot the Milky Way for a looooong time - but the finding a spot without light pollution is tricky since I live near big cities.

As for the fireworks any camera will do. Just keep the ISO down!

Thanks for stopping by!

wow you have knowledge about the Milky too, nice. I hope you shoot the milky way one day soon in near future and share with us :)

Very amazing work! <3

Thank you!

hey @mikeycolon, very nice post! your tips for taking night shots are fantastic and your fireworks photos are beautiful !! What is a professional photographer like? have you studied or are you self-taught?
congratulations for your curie rating and thanks for sharing your tricks with us :-))

Thanks for taking the time to comment and for the kind words!

If you have a tripod, a camera and a trigger - I highly suggest you give it a shot as it's super rewarding!

Growing up my mom was the family photographer and I guess you can say it's in my blood. To answer your question, I'm self taught. I did a lot of reading and watched a lot of online videos.

Like I tell all of my students - I'm not doing anything you can't do - you just have to put in the time.

Thanks again and have a good holiday!

ok, can i ask you something?
this is my instagram profile: https://www.instagram.com/pics_i_feel/
what do you think about it? I don't use any technique when I shoot, then I do some editing. I love the reflections, the shadows, the details.

I took a look at your Instagram and I like what you're doing! 💜 Very creative idea and what I really like is the fact you have a theme in mind. The most successful Instagram accounts are those that have a theme.

If you're editing the photos I'd add a bit more contrast on the images as reflections have a washed out look. But you don't have to go crazy as the images are fine. What matters is that you're getting out and having fun!

Cheers!

Thanks for the kind words! Like I mentioned on a previous comment - you can take awesome photos too. It just takes practice. ;D

Muy bueno. There is so much weignore about picture taking, especially at night and the ones involving artificial lights.
Great tutorial. With all the tools at hand it must be a blast
