"The Coconut and Lime"
Acrylic on canvas. Gavin Speace. 2017.

I would like to add a note to this post...

When I normally post my art on social media sites (@gvnspc) I usually exclude any type of content besides my own art to be associated with the posts. Here I will change that. For each piece I will tell a story. This is my first story, the story of the man in this painting, The Coconut.

The Coconut was a small man, only about 3 feet in stature, though his gaze is enough for the largest elephant to feel small. His hardships in life thus far have allowed his hieght to be anything but a disadvantage. His intensity was never measured vertically, it was never once a thought in my mind when I was in his presence that he wasn't as large as the Sun itself, to be such a powerful fellow, what a thought. The Coconut had been through riggerous termoil throughout life, but i learned something about him.. I learned his deepest passion, fruit. Focusing his attention on food allows him to escape the day-to-day tread that it is to exist in this world. The sweet and voluptuous flavor that seems to ooze into the atmosphere when sliced, the small yet extraordinary explosion of aroma that lights up his mind like Aurora Borealis. He would watch the citrus pores of oranges explode into the air as a child. It brought him great joy to watch the flavor fall out of this lime and drip into the world from once it came. The power behind 'Coconut's index finger and thumb, slowly applying more and more pressure, to maximize the amount of savory, bittery, sweet juice that is released into the atmosphere.. that was The Coconut's Muse. This instant gave this intense, Napolean complexed man the most pleasure he could recieve from anything in existance, he grasped time with each breath as he peered into the droplette, "This is it", he thought, as he watched the oceans themseleves pour out of this tiny citrus earth.
