Create your own puzzle art

in #art8 years ago

If you like to do puzzles for fun, and like amazing art than this post is for you! My mom and I have been creating amazing masterpieces for years. Here is the latest one my mom did for a LGBTQ Recovery charity auction:

It raised $350 for the charity

Follow these steps:

  1. Pick the puzzles. This is the most important thing. the puzzle should have a large center object or multiple medium size objects. You will need about 5 puzzles to create a 4'x4' art piece.

  2. Put together all the puzzles and store. You can store each puzzle on a piece of cardboard. We put them under the bed until we are ready to create the art.

  3. Get the canvas. Go to your local craft store and buy the pre stretched canvas. We have found that spray painting them black makes the process easier.

  4. Pick the sections of the puzzles that you want to use as the main focal point. In this piece my mom choose the owl as the center piece.

  5. Use scotch tape and tape the front of the puzzle area that you want to use. Once you have your sections that you want to use, lift the section out and put on the side. Try not to disturb the rest of the puzzle. Save all of these main focal points on the side.

  6. Carefully flip the main focal sections over and use a generous amount of regular glue on them. Flip them back over and place them on canvas in the spots that you like them best.

  7. Take other less important sections of remaining puzzle and fill in the holes. Once you can barely see the canvas use the left over pieces and glue them individually until there is no more canvas left.

  8. Modge Podge over the entire puzzle art to create the clear coating that you desire.

  9. I personally like to have mine framed. i think it gives them that final touch.

This is the first one I ever did and is in my living room.

Happy crafting and let me know if you need more info on the process.
