Follow the white rabbit...

in #art8 years ago

Follow me down the rabbit hole as I create this Alice in Wonderland inspired mixed media painting.

"Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" - The White Rabbit
Lewis Carroll , Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I started with a watercolour wash, and then built up collage layers with book text, magazine images and a paper doily. I added text and more watercolour.

I added a final layer of patterns and details with paint pen.

Another stunning piece, and I'm loving the granny stripe blanket in the background.

I'm trying to get a granny blanket into most posts!

are you going to be about in chat tonight? I was hoping to pick your brains regarding a project i'm considering.

Pick away

great @opheliafu love your style!

Love yours more. Can I tattoo this rabbit on you?

You have such a Gift

O____o Holy cow I love this. How whimsical!
And mixed media is always so interesting. You executed it so well, too. :)
Alice in Wonderland will always be one of my favorite stories. Well done! Definitely dropping you a follow.

Thanks @pseudopoise, I've made an Alice in wonderland box in an earlier post. https://steemit.com/art/@opheliafu/fairytale-3d-box-pictures
I do love Alice, but avoided doing it for a bit as it can get overdone.
I may do a few Alice quote inspired pieces soon.

I don't think I could ever get tired of Alice pieces :) Wonderland is such an incredible place that I don't think I could ever get tired of seeing new and different interpretations of it. So post away! I'd love to see them once they're finished.

Sweet fairytale motives :)

Wait for the wise caterpillar from you :)

I'm thinking the Hatter or the Queen first. I have 2 quotes in mind. I'm going to start after my breakfast on a large piece.

great work, it keeps the original style of the Carroll's tale.

Yes, in the old fashioned rabbit with waistcoat- i'm not into the original Disney version.

I like most work with newspapers and... can I see it right - tissue? :)

Maybe that's the paper doily you can see (under the flowers)?

Yes, that is what i mean.

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill—the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill—you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes. Remember: all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more....

One of my favorite fairy tales
Thank you for drawing!

A pleasure @sompitonov . There may be more to come, I haven't truly decided yet.

Really amazyng. It makes me remember my childhood and how much I like fairytales)

@serejandmyself has just done an interesting post on Russian folklore you may like, though it's not for bedtime reading! But neither was the Brothers Grimm!

Yeah, I see) It's rather unusual for me to read about our folklore in Engish, but of course I like it)

Excellent!

I simply love the creativity, the colors and your use of text, colors, and puzzles! I think the only way I would ever be that talented is with the use of paint by numbers. LOL Great job @opheliafu - I do look forward to seeing more of your craft.

Maybe I should design a paint by numbers, lol!

Just fabulous!
