Picnic weather!
Such gorgeous weather today in my part of the UK, the sun was shining and it was the perfect weather to pack a picnic and head out to the local park for lunch.

I found a lovely shaded spot under a tree to put down the blanket and eat lunch. As with most of my travels I had taken my sketchbook with me, ready to make a few sketches during a spot of lunch.

It didn't take long to find inspiration, I just looked up into the glistening canopy of the tree. I made a simple line drawing of the sycamore leaves above my head on to a background I had prepared previously using acrylic paints. .

As I was putting the cool bag into my car after the picnic I noticed this little fella had hitched a ride. Can you guess what type of caterpillar he is?

I'll tell you a bit more about this hairy little caterpillar in a future post!

I think it's "Acronicta aceris" - beautiful caterpillar. Thank you very much dear @opheliafu for sharing! All the best to you!
That's a very good guess- the clue was in the name of the tree. Well done!
Yes, it is so! Thanks a lot dear @opheliafu! It was intersting!) Have a beautiful weekend!
You too! And thank you for bringing some sunshine to this post's comment section :D

If you drew that, its lovely
Yes I drew the leaves, thank you.
Nice
Have upvoted
I wish to upvote but you will not get anything from it. I am new
That doesn't matter :D
That's really lovely! I like the simplicity of just the drawing on the green.
This is part of the reason I like to take prepared paper out with me as well as the normal blank pages of my sketchbook- it's good for doing simple line drawings on.
The Mistress/maestro is back😊😊😊
You inspired my big bro now on Steemit to get back to drawing😎
Did I go somewhere?
No😁😂
I did boss
I hope it was somewhere nice!
in the City, trying to lecture Nigerians how to convert steem to Naira , will make a post about a seminar today...

SO beautiful!
I was in awe and alone, i didn't think anyone in the building was even aware of it. Was watching the sky the following day but it was back to being plain and boring ;)
great you make art look fun light and easy!
I really like your inspiring stile!
Art is fun :D
great post, beautiful drawing , i have upvoted & followed
Awesome, thank you very much.

ooh I like it that you shared this moment with us Ophelia ! My gnomely friend Luigi would like to adopt the caterpillar, he'd like some hairy chap to pet 😄
I found a sycamore tree for him- but I'm sure Luigi would have looked after him well!
Enjoy your weekend mate, love ❤️ to see the healthy and organic breakfast 🍳 In such green and fresh environment, so jeleous 😝 . Have a great day ahead, upvoted
Are you talking about the watermelon and strawberries or the limp cheese sandwich!? ;D
Nothing more beautiful than spending a day in contact with nature, beautiful work dear friend @opheliafu congratulations,
Thank you @jlufer, I hope you are having a glorious weekend!
Good way to relax and interact with nature.
Yes the perfect way to spend an afternoon
is a nice plan!!
I often notice the general shape of the tree is outlined in the leaf
I'm going to be a lot more observant of this now that you have mentioned it!
:)
Can't wait to see your next post on the hairy caterpillar. Finding your art work feels like finding a piece of gem. One day, I might ask if I could use some of your pictures as class resources. They are all so beautiful!
I open for discussion on that :D
And that English lunch on the grass with a sandwich :) And it seems you are not wasting your time :) A good artist can get inspiration any moment from his surroundings :)
Not the most exciting lunch, but i had not planned ahead for it being picnic weather- it's mostly been rain boot weather recently!
Glad you have managed to pull it off finally :)
OK, the UK isn't Vermont, but the song still comes to mind.
Very nice, i'm going to leave this playing whilst i start my next painting.
Good information brother, as always I follow all your post, a big greeting from @joserc.vzla
If I would see such caterpillar on a picnic - I would run in the opposite direction as fast as I could lol:) But it seems like you're going to draw her, and something tells me that through prism of your art she will look friendly:)
I must admit that i didn't touch the caterpillar- I let her crawl onto a leaf and some paper then i carried her to a tree. Some caterpillars can irritate the skin so it's better to be safe than sorry.
I fear insects. May be it's not much fear as disgust, to cockroaches, for example. But this one looks really pretty. But I would escape anyway lol:)
I like the one tone field that you are drawing on @opheliafu You inspiring to observe as you create new artwork. :)
