I was going to do a wax rubbing with the key under the paper, but after a few experiments I decided to rub the wax straight onto the key and heat it with a flame. For this piece I knew I'd be using a lot of wet ink to create a cloudy background- to represent the idea of smoke, so using a resist technique with the wax and ink seemed like a good idea.
