I like to paint portraits, even if mostly those paintings are tributes, for me, and so I do them more using my technical skill than my creativity. It is out of respect for the people portraited.
I have posted most of the paintings below already, but here I put all together the portraits of writers, actors, artists I did in the last years.

Eco's portrait is great and it's also nice to find Conrad and Dick in there, not writers many people enjoy today.

Nice drawings!
Fantastic work, my friend. I especially like the layered, textured effect of the more complex paintings.
Got me to shed a tear for Terry Pratchett and David Foster Wallace. I miss those guys.
I miss them too.

Complimenti li hai fatti tutti tu?
nel giro di qualche mese, sì :)
Great variety of techniques and mediums that you have used here. Loving the "messy-ness" used in a few of these portraits. Resteeming , upvoting and following ! :)

Very nice series of work. Each one has their own essence - kind of reminds me of my work - I don't have one specific visual style and I play around with how I execute different pieces to achieve different emotions or aesthetics. Emma Ishta & Kurt Vonnegut are by far my two favorites. I think the color palette and execution of technique in the Emma piece is gorgeous, its very beautiful - soft but energetic - lovely. Kurt is awesome because I love seeing the energy in your lines - how you have very specific lines and then these wild lines especially in the hair - the juxtaposition between the very industrial, straight lines and these more organic fluid lines are very fun and add a lot of visual interest to the piece. I look forward to seeing more - I just posted a pen and ink mini series of three illustrations of my favorite directors - don't know if you saw it but if you are interested - check it out :) https://steemit.com/art/@j-vo/the-best-directors-tarantino-spielberg-and-burton-original-pen-and-ink-illustrations-by-j-vo
Great work - I look forward to following you so I can see more!
thx @j-vo, your comment is very shrewd. I'll check you works!
Great work! You've got some good ones in there (except Polanski the child molester). Kurt Vonnegut lived on Cape Cod, so my friend and I decided to "drop in" on our way to P-Town. He was very nice and extremely cordial... he invited us in for coffee and listened patiently while we gushed about how much we loved his work (which was true). We must have sounded like a pair of star-struck idiots lol!
wow! it is amazing for me to know that you actually met Vonnegut! You should write a post about it - if have not done it already! :)
That's an idea. He was so nice and probably wishing we'd just go away!
this is an amazing work
Nice! Uber-cool, I love the Umberto Eco, the texture is amazing, I can't decide if that is my favourite, or the Polanski one. There is something quite haunting about that one.
Nice work, thanks for posting :-)

thx to you. the portrait of Umberto Eco has a very rough surfare made of pebbles and dirt, but it's not visible so well in the pic :)
Right, I did wonder that; it's amazing, I think if I owned this I might ruin it, by touching it all the time! :-)
