Thanks for the heads-up.! I edited the post to fix it.
But I must add a "Hmmm" to steemit . . . it was working, as indicated by steemit's initial thumbnail generation for the post. In inspecting the code for the generated post page, it looks like steemit somehow mangled the link -- interesting (if steemit code maintainers are reading this, take a look at your logs and post-page generator settings. I noticed similar erratic behavior during the editing when I was first generating the post -- i.e. the "http" would be removed from links and elements randomly would reposition around the page).
Anyway, I restored the link -- hope it stays that way. :-)
Did you use Imgur - for some reason that kept happening for me it would remove the start of the URL when I posted. Since using imgsafe it doesn't happen.
I wound up using "Mark Down" formatting, instead of html formatting, for that one link.
