The Greater Feathered Caracaluff
or
Large Travel Kitty
The Greater Feathered Caracaluff is a large mammal whose height in adulthood can reach as much as 5.2 metres. They take many years to mature from their kittenish form into their full feathered adult plummage, and their long feathery tails continue to grow throughout their life. The oldest recorded Greater Feathered Caracaluff lived in the snowy red deserts of Neozantibar. When it was last seen at the turn of the century it was rumoured to be around 720 years old.
Caracaluff have a long history of partnership with humans. When the first explorers set foot on Esanveritor II, they travelled a brave and treacherous journey to the far reaches of Neozantibar and found that one of the few creatures able to cross those snowy windswept red sands were the Caracaluff. The explorers befriended the great creatures, and were allowed safe passage across the stormy deserts in the shelter of their large, soft feathers.
Caracaluff have the perfect strength and build for taking large packs of supplies, and can comfortably travel great distances with little rest, bounding with extraordinary ease across the snowy and sandy hills in soft and nimble silence, with only the occasional swoosh of their feathers audible in the wind. Many travellers fall asleep on the Caracaluffs’ backs, rocked gently into slumber by their smooth swaying motion as they leap through the night, to awake safely and well rested in a far distant and welcoming new land.
To this day, Caracaluff volunteer their help and services as travel companions, and their journeys with humans have taken them all over Esanveritor II and many of it’s surrounding moons. Up to two people can travel on the back of a large adult, staying warm, dry and comfortable, even when outer air temperatures have dropped well below -50 degrees Centigrade.

Aw man, reading the lore about the Caracaluff just made it even better. Now I'm curious to see how a young Caracluff looks like.

Beautiful work, as usual. I also love the information you gave about the creature. I now wish I had Caracaluff. It would certainly make getting to work quicker and much more enjoyable, that’s for sure, but man, the grocery bills.

Hey! :D Thanks very much for including me! That's great.
The linework is delicate and the colorwork is lovely.
Thank you for sharing good artwork.
Thank you! And you're welcome :D
Wow! The detail in this is amazing! I love your use of color. I usually put very bright, vivid colors in my paintings, and seeing this painting of yours is showing me that perhaps I should try using my vivid colors more sparingly, so that they contrast more with the other colors. Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words! :D It's really sweet and motivating to hear that you might have gained some inspiration from my art, thanks! I'll come check yours out too!
