It's all dotting great here in the Netherlands!
The past two days I have been crafting together with my mom and we had a blast for sure! We tried out something we both never done before! Making mandala paintings on stones!
While surfing online I came across a crafting set with stones and paint! At first I thought that I would not buy it but because I could not find anything else I went back to have a second look! I really wanted to buy a few different projects so my mom and I would be busy for weeks!
The project
I bought these sets at a store called the Xenos! I am not sure if you can find this store in other countries! I paid €7.99 per box and I have to say, the set is really compleet!
Inside we found..
6 black stones in different sizes.
2 dotting pens in 4 sizes.
2 brushes in 2 sizes.
Acrylic paint in 10 different colors.
Here we go!
We started by painting the stones pitch black! ( We saw that on the internet and liked it! ) First the top and after waiting for that to dry we turned the stones around and painted the other side!
While the paint was drying we started to think about the colors we wanted to use while sipping from our coffee! It was still early so, I was not totally awake yet!
I really can't remember which one of the stones I made first! I asked my mom if she knew and she also forgot! It does not matter at all because I think they all turned out amazing! The paint inside was great and easy to use! The colors very bright, so enough pigment was used! I always fear for bad paint when I buy a set like this! Needles to say, I am super happy with the paint! It was nice and thick, kinda oil paint like which made it possible to make really nice dots!
We had so much fun during this project that we lost track of time and without stopping we both used all 6 stones! It took us a few hours and while we really enjoyed doing it, and we both loved the outcome, we were also sad! So very sad, because we could have gone one for hours but the stones were all gone! I think for a starter kit, this set is really amazing and 6 stones is more than enough! For crafting addicts like mom and me, a box with 25 stones might have been better!
Lucky for us, my partner is going to the do it yourself store and get us some more stones! Bless him for being amazing! If you want to try this out as well, I would really suggest this package! Going to share the second picture of my post again because... I love it!

Quit steady I think but that is no problem for me. My mom was a bit shaky but she took more time and it went all good. You can wipe the paint off while it's still wet so if you make a mistake you can fix it easy!

Thank you, I will see if my local arts and craft store has any kits or if I can buy the necessary supplies.
In this kit was acrylic paint and I think you can use all kind of rocks but they have to be smooth. Maybe you can also buy them at a local hardware store?

I haven't stopped by for a long while, too long, I'm afraid. I don't know what I missed out on, but these stones are so cool. I love them. What's best is anyone can do them in their own style. I like your orange one the best; for no reason at all; maybe it's your use of warm colors.Hi @poeticsnake,

I love that you are happy in the company of your mother and some delicious donuts lol... I have been able to see your new art and I love those bright colors in the stones, I doubt very much to find a set like that in venezuela, but I believe that I could engineer something like that, although perhaps it is expensive, I was in love with the piece with blue color, it is very vibrant, I wonder if that is the final art or still missing? I would like to see the whole piece in color, maybe I would use it to decorate my office, as your art always stands out, happy night.

Maybe you can find some good stoned at a river bank? Those stones there are smooth because of the washing waters.
