Pearl S. Buck
Pearl Sydenstricker Buck was an American writer. In 1932 she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.
In 1938 she was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature for her epic depictions of Chinese peasant life and for her biographical masterpieces.
Her parents lived in the Empire of China and travelled back to the USA for Pearl's birth. In the same year, however, they returned to China, where they settled in Huai'an for the time being.
In 1911 she began her studies in Lynchburg, Virginia, but three years later she returned to China, where she married a missionary.
