I give art classes for children many years.
And every year at our classes we make painting the T-shirt workshop.
Usually the main contingent of such master classes is children from 5 to 10 years old, but often teenagers also come to us, and sometimes even moms join the process.
T-shirt painting is very fascinating, simple, but at the same time a specific and unusual art.
Children really like this non-standard approach to drawing. In addition, as a result, they receive a T-shirt, which they painted with their own hands.
Usually it becomes their favorite thing, and they happily wear their own work and show off their friends (if, of course, their mother appreciated the efforts of the child and praised the thing done).
We need:
A white T-shirt of the appropriate size.
Black marker permanent (you can take a special for textiles, but you can get by marker for SD or any permanent marker).
A piece of cardboard (needed to build a T-shirt inside. The cardboard will be LIGHT to stretch the fabric of the T-shirt and protect its back from getting wet when we draw on the front, and vice versa).
Paints on fabric. Now a huge number of different dyes are sold for the fabric. From small sets of 4 colors to professional paints and sprayers with sparkles, metallic, pearly, etc. You can also use felt pens and crayons for working on fabrics, too, very interesting results are obtained.
A coloring picture printed from the Internet under the size of a T-shirt (this is usually an A4 format).
In the post were used pictures from my master class. This girl's shirt was painted by a girl of 7 years old, I photographed the process on my phone, so sorry for the quality of the photos (it's not perfect), but the process of working here is laid out in detail :)
Let's start painting the T-shirts
First we pull our T-shirt onto a piece of cardboard. The cardboard should be slightly larger than the T-shirt, so that the fabric is stretched and not much "ridden" while we are drawing on it.
Next, we figure out how and where the drawing will be located. If necessary, lay out the individual parts in a beautiful composition.
We are laying out the entire composition now under the T-shirt.
Gently fix the pictures with adhesive tape to the cardboard, so that in the process of stroking do not move the picture. And we draw a line with a permanent marker or a felt-tip pen.
Once you have circled the picture, you can proceed with coloring.
If we need paint more pale, then, of course, they can easily be diluted with water until the desired tone.
Children are very fond of unusual colors. Paints with sparkles, with metallic effect, pearlescent, pshikalki and bryzgalki, and any others - the more variety there will be in paints, the more with great pleasure children will create their masterpieces!
Now that the painting is ready, we leave it to dry.
DO NOT take out the cardboard until it dries completely! Otherwise, you risk getting a print of your drawing on the other side of the T-shirt. Usually 24 hours are enough, but some paint manufacturers recommend drying 48 hours.
After that, we remove the T-shirt from the cardboard and iron it from the inside, fixing the dyes (usually I do it on the "cotton" mode). After that, you can easily wash the T-shirt in 40-degree water
