The Question is - basically unrelated to the painting I decided to share again today. It's about my need for self-improvement and innovation. I'm trying to get a market understanding of the many reasons to be attracted to art, and which kind of art fulfills your needs.
So:
- Do you have a favourite artist (or artists) in painting or drawing?
- Please tell me, to the best of your ability, what you love about their work over that of other artists?
- And please, can you add a link to some of their work for me to see?
I would be so grateful to hear from you! I've asked my friends on facebook, and I think they feel I'm fishing for them to say that I am their favourite artist, because I've gotten only about 5 or 6 answers. I'm absolutely not fishing, as this is my very own R&D work.
The piece above, since it's here, many of you who've been following have seen already. It's called 'An Apple a Day'. 36x36" Acrylic on canvas. It's about religious symbology, secular symbology, and health misconceptions. It came to my mind following the topic of industry standards, so I chose it as my visual.
Looking forward to hearing your answers!

Hi Rachel, i would like to help , but i need to understand more, because i am not sure how would it be helping you.?
How exactly is it adding to your " self-improvement and innovation "?
Explain it a bit more please!
thank You :-)
Hi @agneslaczo. No problem!
It would help me to know who your favourite artist is and why, because I'll get a better idea of what the most important reasons are that people are drawn to art, and the kind of art that fulfills those reasons.
For instance, if you said you liked your favourite artist because of the emotions in their work, and then share their work with me, then I'll be able to keep in mind how important emotions in art are, and what they look like to you, so I can add more of it into my designs. :) (Never to plagiarize anyone else's work, just to understand it)
i see , thank You :-)
i could show you many artworks, illustrations i like, but let me see what i can find first.. :-)
Playful , colorful childish yet shows great talent.
this one to me is professionalism :-)
These are some good examples of my taste.
This is one of my favorite artist, i can learn
a lot from him.
I hope it helps you! :-)
If you would like to see more art which i find inspiring,
i will be happy to show you ! I have hundreds ! :-)
Thank you so much! :)
There are infinite directions to improve yourself.
Super realistic paintings? Oil portraits? Or breathtaking drawings of landscapes or ancient structures?
It's true! It's infinite. I have a purpose with this, though. :D
Whose works are these, @yaan? And can you tell me why you love them more than other kinds of work?
Anything beautiful or that can make me feel (of course, the painter has to be skilled).
I don't really have favourite artists right now.
I only recently found out about Serge Marshennikov (russian artist).
People buy his works like pancakes. Probably because he paints a lot of pretty ladies lol.
That works! I'll check him out. Thanks Yan! :)
Wait why most of the artists I know on steemit suddenly started to search for improvement. Right after I started my challenge... what an interesting coincidence :D
Norman Rockwell, He brought such good expression and range of motion to his work. He liked to make statements in his art that one could really respect him for doing at a time where his belief's were rather dangerous to have.
His eye for detail is intense. He is pretty much the only artist I actively seek prints of.
Excellent! Thank you so much, @artwatch!
Greg Rutkowski is one of my favorite concept artists, he uses traditional brushwork in his concept art creating a unique blend of digital and traditional media.
These are amazing. Thank you so much, @upheaver! :)
Frank Frazetta...his manipulation of light on the human form, tension and release, and his understanding of suggested action in a "still" form, and his ability to portray a mystical, magical, sorrowful, majestic, or powerful MOOD in a piece that seems to enchant or transform the onlooker into a witness or even a participant in the action..Renoir could also draw you into something as mundane as a portait and gently induce the viewer into a state of wonder ,to pose questions about the life they lived etc. M.C. Escher had this ability, check out some of his less "commercial" landscape and architectural renderings. People care about the human condition(as this work An Apple A Day) suggest. Do not forget that often the Background of a painting tells the "story" and works on the sublimial MIND of the viewer. There's a lot of stuff going on "behind the scenes" in most all the Masters(Rembrandt, Da Vinci,Van Gogh etc.) art. That is ,of course, the role of the artist in society, and why most of them were shunned by the dilitantes and despots of the world until they (the artist) could be CAPITALIZED on after their deaths. You have heard the old but true statement,no one is prophet in his own land...until you are killed by your own country men for shining a light into their darkness and exposing them! Keep up the GREAT work.
This is fantastic, @slowdancer58. I will look all of these examples up. Thank you very much. :)
