I discovered the artist Miv4t today by accident while browsing Reddit. I went directly to his Artstation profile and started browsing his creations. He (or she) is very talented and has a very unique and complex style.
The first thing to notice while looking at the image I've highlighted is that the painting is very detailed, with some degrees of realism in it, but it is also very within a very Japanese genre of drawing (anime/manga, etc.)
The second thing is the concept itself. While at first what jumps out is how well drown it is and that the characters are wearing chains, once the image is examined, the concept is very obvious: a siren is underwater, desperate to reach the other side (perhaps reaching for the droplet that just fell through). On the other side, there is an angel "in air" (opposite of under water?).
As the water falls, both the siren and the angel will drown at similar times. It's not a revolutionary concept, but it's cool in a tragic way, and very intense once we notice it. All in all, the color palette is excellent, the attention to detail is astounding, and we can easily see that the artist did not at all neglect the background. This is a trend in all his works: the quality reaches everything, not just the center figures.
The trends are followed all throughout his work. He's a story teller, but his stories don't reach through pages of text, they're simple one-image situational stories.
Something else that is interesting is the way that the technological look drives deep into his art. He is comfortable enough to use a very big watermark with his details and not kill the mood. It's very good graphic design.
I will post a few more highlights and to see more, please visit Miv4t's profile on Artstation.
These all are great. Thanks for introducing her/his work.
You're welcome. If I spend all my day watching art and stuff like that, might as well share some of it!
