A couple of weeks ago, I saw a painting tutorial posted by @aalagenesis. As I was reading through the post, a voice in my head kept telling me I should give it a try. I even commented on her post that the tutorial made me feel like I can do it. Drawing has always been my frustration. I have tried tutorials before but the results are really just unspeakably unappealing. So I made my peace with it. That I may not really have the gift of art.
But every so often, I feel the urge to try again. There are instances that I give in, there are those that I just ignore that urge. I'm too old for this, I know. But I think it's never too late to learn something new. So I gave painting a try. This is actually the first time I'm trying painting with a paint brush and poster color. (I don't even know if I used it correctly. LOL!)
So I just basically followed the step by step procedures. It felt awkward the first time the brush touched the blank white cardboard I was painting on. After a few strokes, I was starting to enjoy painting the whole thing light blue. It was indeed a bit messy when you are painting. There are droplets of poster color all over the place. Oh well, the kid is enjoying the mess, she's amused, she's having fun, and that means I can continue with my painting lesson.
In the middle of the work, I realized, the set I bought doesn't have brown. I thought of mixing colors to produce a brown color, but I'm not sure how to do it. So instead of painting trees, I painted tiny little flowers. I really wanted to try to paint trees. I'm sure it'll be a whole new story if I have painted those trees on my first try. If there's one thing I'm good at, it's improvising. I was not sure though if I can improvise on this painting.
While I'm writing this, I am actually laughing at the mini panic attack I had which resulted to those two tiny red stars on the green fields. Even my two-year old daughter kept saying there are stars in the field. "Honey, I was trying to paint flowers!" Then, I figured out how to make the dots look like flowers instead of stars. haha. I think I also have to work on adding more white on those clouds.
Needless to say, it was an enjoyable learning experience. Even my daughter did a painting of her own. We had a fun mini art workshop this afternoon. The result wasn't what I had hoped for. Will I do it again? Of course! Haha! I'll be a little bit more prepared next time. I'll make sure I have the colors I need before I start.
I think recycling/repurposing things is already embedded in my system, I used this to hold the poster color while I paint. It's a used medicine packet that has really large spaces where I can mix the colors. ^_^

Hey @romeskie ! YOU DID GREAT! I love those little flowers !
And yes you are right, there's no one who is "too old" to try and learn new things!
Just try and practice more until you achieve what you want!
My heart is happy for inspiring you !
Cheers
😍 thanks so much! I enjoyed the process. I've been watching some video tutorials. I guess I'll buy another set of colors again. Hehe
And oh! I love how you use those blisters as palletes ! very clever and resourceful

I love that you dared again to paint and it payed out: Your painting looks lovely with all the colors and the cloudy sky.
I mostly use paper plates as a pallet which is very sustainable as you can reuse them several times and you would have more room to mix new shades...
Looking forward to your art experiments 😍

Thanks @neumannsalva. It's lovely to learn something new and have fun while doing it. I think me and my kid will be doing a lot more artworks in the future. :)
