I created this image last night in preparation for the upcoming article. My partner Sabrina watched me for a while during my creation process before she went to bed and had a bit of a laugh at me, suggesting no one cared about my art.
Is this true?
Hope not!
Personally I absolutely love this aspect of Steemit. And when writing meaty articles like this one as part of a series I feel even more strongly about creating a kind of 'brand' to go with my work.
It's all about the PNGs!
PNGs are important because they have no background and can be easily merged with your image.

Sabrina watched me announce suddenly that I wanted grapes hanging off the FOOD... and laughed π
But in that moment it was clear. I must have grapes!
And a quick search for 'grapes png' pulled up a plethora of options.
Then I needed something to signify fasting.
She suggested a hungry, moody looking person.
Errrr.... no.
When I focus on the energy of the word I am looking to visualise, the image I am seeking seems to pop into my head and there is almost always a PNG which matches my vision.
In this case I thought of a crossed knife & fork.
Searching on line it turned out that a crossed fork & spoon is much more common, due to the eating style here in Asia!
But where there is a will there is a way.... and I found what I was looking for in a few minutes.
After adding a little white drop shadow and softening the edge, it was done.
I would be interested to get your feedback...

NO!!! To me steemit is a lot of things, I think for a lot of people on steemit it is a lot of things. People poor a lot of heart into their creations, whether it is a Photograph, a story, a story with photographs, a painting, a piece of digital art. We are a visually oriented species. We need to see, and seeing a beautiful piece of art, whether it is visual or in written form we can not help but be moved by it.
Eye Candy is what makes the world go round. Do I really want to read a book that has a half eaten moldy gross looking hamburger as the cover? Well, maybe, but the art sometimes sells the book, or the story. So no you are not wasting your time by bringing something visually pleasing to your followers/fans.

Its always nice to see some artwork with a post, keeps it colorful and interesting, especially when you design it yourself it adds that personal touch. Very nice and definitely not a waste of time.

You tough me how to add a cover image, I just updated mine and that it takes work and consistant attention to be successful on steemit.I think you are using your time really well @samstonehill and teaching others in the process.

I'd heard we're "not allowed" to use the new logo without permission.
One of the tips on YouTube is to create a clickable thumbnail to increase views. However, we gotta balance click-ability with time spent creating the thumbnail.... and this is where Sabrina is somewhat right to laugh. Don't waste toooo much time it Bro, but make it inviting. Find that balance.
Nah. We are allowed. Steemit has said for the moment it's okay.
