I painted this last weekend outdoors on location near the village of Glenorchy, New Zealand. The road is at the bottom of the beautiful Rees Valley.
When I started painting this the foreground was in full sun whilst the mountains were in shadow which I thought made a brilliant contrast.
As I was painting the weather turned to crap and it started raining, I had my umbrella with me but in the end it was getting too difficult to paint and everything was getting wet. Luckily I had nearly finished the painting and I was able to finish it in the studio.
This art work was painted in oils on an 8” x 10” canvas panel.
This is so Newzealand :)
beautiful views all around, enticing creativity, but the weather is so unpredictable that you are less likely to finish an outdoor project :)
May be you should take a photograph of the place before beginning to paint, so that you can easily finish it if the weather goes wild.
Lovely painting. Is it oil or water painting?
Wow ! amazing
Thanks @hiranur :)
