Sam's Painting Adventures - Queenstown, New Zealand - Art and Photos

in #art7 years ago

I love painting outdoors (en plein air) and I painted this art work last year in late winter on the lake front in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Walter Peak, 9" x 12", oil on canvas, painted en plein air.

Painting en plein air teaches you to paint quickly, the changing light and weather conditions poses a challenge, but it really makes you look at the landscape.

I was halfway through painting this when I took this photo. It's important for your painting to not be in direct sun as you paint.

ART TIP - When plein air painting, try and get your dark tones in as quickly as you can, then it doesn't matter if the light changes.

The beautiful landscape from the Queenstown lake front.

I hope you liked my post, I have more paintings on my website: samuelearp.com

Simply amazing! I love your picture

Awesome! absolutely follow-worthy 😋
cheers 🍻

very good art :)

THis is very nice are these oil paintings? What other mediums do you use? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Yes I paint in oils, I think oils are the easiest paints to use. I use the medium liquin as it speeds up drying time and improves the flow of the paint. Liquin is definitely a useful medium for plein air painting.

Very solid looking kit... And a great painting to boot!

Thanks. Yeah, I'm using a Ben Haggett pochade box, he hand makes them in the USA.

I think your painting is even more beautiful than the actual place. Really lovely!

That is just beautiful!

The view and you painting!

You managed to capture all the details!

Well done! :)

Thanks @taraamin77, Queenstown is a beautiful place :)

I nominate you to be the Bob Ross of steemit! No but your art is awesome, it would be sweet to watch the the process! Following to see more, thanks for sharing!

Wow...

I love painting en plein air! Nice work! I agree, it does teach you to paint quickly. I just blogged about it the other day, actually. I've learned so much and loosened up a lot since doing it.
