There something special when someone you never met buy one of your artwork, it's really a great sensation! It's not just for money (sure, to have more money it's a good reason to be happy ^_^), but it's also an excellent feedback about your work!
I'll always remember the first time I sold one of my artwork, just few years ago: it was a watercolor portrait of a cat on an old page of book. I added it on my Etsy shop just for fun, but I didn't hope someone liked it so much to buy. After about a week a nice american woman bought that cat portrait and I was so surprised and also so happy!
After that first cat, I painted many others cats that I sold all over the world. I painted cats for the most of the time for about 2 years before to start to paint different subjects and to use different media, finding my own style too! After many artworks sold, I have to say that everytime someone "adopt" one of my creatures is really a great, positive emotion.
Today I sold this funny Emu, it's an oil colors on paper 200 gr, A4 size. I admit that one of the reason I often paint on a sheet of A4 paper is because I can send the piece all over the word without problems and for an affordable price. For example, to send a canvas in some countries is more complicated cause the wooden frame. I can't send wooden pieces in some countries like Australia without a specific and certified process to the wood and, as you can understand, it's not a cheap action ;)
Sure, to send a sheet of paper is less expensive than a canvas and I like to think that people can buy a little piece of art even if they are not rich. ^_^

Nothing happier than someone appreciates the work and willing to collect it by paying a nice price xP An full-time artist achievement~
I totally agree, there's nothing happier! ^_^
It must be trully amazing to get your artwork sold, i still remember the first upvote i got on steemit xD I think it's a little like selling your artwork right? Someone read/saw your content and they wanted to give you money for it
Yes, I think it's the same great sensation ^_^
very funny painting!
Thanks ^_^
That is a beautiful painting, I was thinking to try oil on paper but still not sure if I should do. Usually when I use oil colors I use a bit of thinner, I am not sure if you can use it on paper. I know many artists do not use thinner, just oil colors. What about yourself?
I concur with you on using paper to make art, rather than canvas. I knew canvas is more "professional" way to make art but a paper is so much more affordable to mail to other countries. By the way, congrats on the sale.
