Narasimha is an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, one who incarnates in the form of part lion and part man to destroy an evil king Iranyan, end religious persecution and calamity on earth, thereby restoring Dharma. The fierce battle between them is carved out in granite with an extraordinary details in the statue. Realistic nature of the sculpture can be seen at the twisted thigh muscles of Iranyan due to the death grip by Lord Narashima.
