Hi everyone!
Today’s sculpture is dedicated to all the Steemers who love to observe the Moon. I have a great affection to this wonderful bright face that looks over our planet at night. The Moon can affect us and our planet in multiple ways. These effects have been largely explained by physics, still a certain amount of mysticism around its powers remains. My interest in the Moon is astronomical, but art’s main vehicle is imagination, not scientific evidence, so my tribute to the Moon and its phases is rather lyrical.
Because the Moon caresses us with its light during the darkest times of a day, I feel that it’s a She. She is romantic, she is caring, she is bright and vivid like a young girl but she is also wise and consistent like a grandmother.
This two-piece handmade sculpture is a combination of ceramic clays of different colors (naturally colored clay with no other synthetic additions) and represents the Moon cycles. The first half of the moon cycle is the young girl and the second half is the old woman. I love them both equally. Each piece is about 25cm tall and I have designed them this way so they can stand on their own.
More photos below. I hope you like my Moon Phases, enjoy!
I like it! :-) Cheers @sofi-m!
Glad you do! Thank you @robyneggs
They are artistically interesting. Are they also bookends on the mundane level ?
I never thought of the practical use of my sculptures, although I have designed them to stand like bookends would :)
Well, for very special books, they would be exquisite.
Ah you have made this for me! I love the moon :-) Amazing sculpture again, thanks for sharing with us!
Thank you so much! Sorry I missed your wonderful comment two days ago.
