Beautiful Sunset on Outdoor Wall in Costa Rican Home
February 17 & 18 -- Still at it here in Costa Rica! I just completed a very very challenging wall. Allow me to explain: Sunset with Palm tree silhouettes... normally the easiest and fastest type of mural.... until you do it on the most textured wall you've ever come into contact with!!!
Yes, a very healthy challenge indeed. I mean, blending on this type of texture is one thing... but when you have to blend various colors in a pragmatic way to make sense as a sunset, and the sun is drying the paint faster than normal... and you need to keep mixing the same color, without too much water to avoid drips from the texture.... with enough water to blend... with enough paint to shove into the tiny crevices and holes throughout the wall. This wall took twice as much paint, and eight times as much patience haha. Even getting a proper straight line on a wall with this kind of texture is attributed to the power of illusion, as no line can be straight technically on this surface.... to make it appear straight in and out of the holes....yes. each line of the palm tree.... very meticulously planned.
I am overly stoked it came out so well. I am proud of myself and grateful for the challenge... it taught me a lot about my patience and willingness to go with the flow!!! Grateful for every opportunity -- and always look at the positive aspects!
Here is a photo breakdown, starting with close-ups of the wall texture... and even a night shot with the mural reflecting into the pool! That was cool. Cheers everyone! Enjoy <3
Looks like it was quite a challenge but you nailed it!
Yeah I totally agree
thanks you guys!!
hey wow that's awesome! Should have seen this sooner at least I could have voted on it and resteemed it. Awww.
What paint did you use? Enamel?
We did a mural on a textured wall back in 2016. It was quite fun to do even if it was a first for me. :D
Hey there!! I used good quality latex house paint and acrylic :)
Oh I see. Thanks!
