Hello everyone!
Today, I just want to share my new original piece. I call it "The Blood Crying Face Island".
Story of why and how I made this
In fact, I did not really planned this. This just like happened while I was messing around with watercolors. I wanted to experiment on how to use the dripping technique where you just let the watercolor pigment flow down along with the water like a tear drop.
After achieving the technique, it gave me an idea that this technique would be so cool if I apply it to a crying face. So, I started creating the eyes. A very blue and yellowish eyes, kinda like an ocean that is strike by the rays of the sunlight.
Now, I tried using the "wet into wet" technique where you would first apply water onto the paper and then with the wet watercolor, you will just let the pigments scatter along the surface that is wet. It will create an explosion of pigment effect when applied and it is very fun watch :). You should try it once in a while because it is awesome! Now, because of how fun it was, I kinda loose control of it. hehe. I totally did not have any plan on what to make here, I just kept on adding more colorful explosion. So, I just go with it and after a while It kinda formed like a forest so I added in more green stuff for the trees and use yellow pigments to create a sunset vibe into it.
After creating the trees-like stuff, it gave me an an idea to just create an island and because it has eyes already why not make it a face. That is why I constructed a somewhat face-like island art. Using the brown watercolor, I applied it as the first layer of its face. I painted it to have a blocky texture because it is supposed to be a land with rocks on it.
After covering the whole face island with the first layer of blocky texture, it is looking like a poop face. So I then added it more contrast by using an even darker brown to give it a sturdy look.
I decided to erase the lips because my face island does not have a voice of its own. It cannot voice out its thoughts, it can only watch and smell its surroundings. It is up to the people and animals living on this island to voice out the thoughts of the face island.
Now, I added black watercolor to create a shadow and contrast.
Because the island has no mouth to scream its pain and sufferings, loneliness and sadness, it can only cry as it can only express its feelings through it. That is why I painted it with red watercolor to be its blood tears!
