While I can't blame you for your eyre nor fault you for the observations you made, but one has to view this from other people's persepctives as well as your own. You may be the kind of person who doesn't upvote my posts because you see no sense in supporting someone who can upvote you at best with $0.01 - The only way I can discover that is by commenting on your posts and waiting to see if you return the courtesy. In an ecosystem where voting power is not limitless, it is predictable that people will adopt a policy of only upvoting if they will receive support from the person they upvote. I haven't heard anything of yours and I may and may not like what you produce - I may wish to buy your album or painting or book, or just give you a thank you comment. In the real world, this is how we make decisions about spending - we do a cost analysis, we consider our priorities and our resources, and then we decide how much we wish to spend.
Judging simply by a scan of your post, for the simple fact you posted something which got me thinking and writing, I will upvote you with $0.01 (if my voting power allows it). If I had greater voting power and ability to slide my power, I'd still make sure I gave you just $0.01. While I hope my comment does not offend you, I also hope you are happy with what I donate to you with an upvote and if it amounts to $0 I hope you are as happy and appreciate my vote and my content feed, in the same way you value someone who can add more to your wallet.
And unless I don't understand 'voting power and bandwidth', votes do amount to a loss - perhaps if you upvote as much as I do, you may discover that.
