Hey guys
Here is a painting I did in Verve. It was playing off the Bob Ross episode Divine Elegance.
I'm rather proud of it although its now a bit old. Verve is a pretty cool software as well, its a fluid dynamics simulator and although I mostly use photoshop I have to say I think Verve really mimics oils far better than any other program I've used. However I think the guy that made it recently was hired onto a bigger company so I'm not sure if hes still updating it. Hope to see the brush engine implemented on a bigger scale someday.
Bob Ross was truly an amazing guy. One thing I really liked was that he taught and preached a brand of painting that was the essence of what painting means to me, defined by looseness and fluidity. Your painting could be totally different, he was just giving you an idea to run with.
Whenever I was stressed, I used to go home, put on a Bob Ross episode and paint along. His calm voice and humble advice always felt like he was speaking right to me. This might sound ridiculous but I'd find myself responding to Bob, like "yeah Bob" as if I was in the room with him. The looseness he preached always made me remember that everyone has something they can express through art. Just like in life, my painting might not be exactly the same as the template, but that's fine, because you're just expressing the idea in a different way.
Anyway, that's all. Please let me know if you'd like to see more landscapes or more Bob Ross.
