I had a rather fun and rewarding weekend. I saw some great exhibits, made art and hung out with friends. I experienced some old feelings and found inspiration; it was good.

Saturday I went to the Getty with some friends and we viewed this magical exhibit "Book of Beasts
The Bestiary in the Medieval World"

It visually transported me as I tried to imagine I was one of the illuminators very carefully working out each detail.

I also viewed a small but beautiful illustration exhibit and a magical performance in the courtyard; made even more dramatic by a thick fog that surrounded the Getty. (A beautiful museum if you have not been to it). Afterwards we went out to eat at a fine restaurant in Santa Monica; Estate.

Sunday I was invited out but I decided to stay home and work on art. I am super inspired lately and my work is going in all these different directions.

First I had this concept I was working on of these key pieces; each represents a different idea that a person may want to be mindful of. It has become clear to me that the more I think on a certain reality the more it becomes a part of my life; so I thought I would would make a series of keys to sell to people so they can meditate on what they want to bring to their life. The first four will be "Hope", "Health", "Wealth" and "Friendship" and if they are purchased I will make more. Right now I am trying to decide on an appropriate price. I want them to be affordable on the one hand; on the other I do not want to sell myself short; These take both time and money to make.

I am also making a couple of signs to put on our fence; one is a dogs head sticking out of a frame that will be a "Beware of Dog" sign, the other is an eyeball sculpture that will let any potential thieves know we have cameras on them. We have had things stolen from our yard before so we want to prevent that from happening again.

I worked on some of the other crafts in the top image then my brother grilled some burgers out back and we watched "Swamp thing" and "Big Little Lies" with our housemates while I started a sketch on this wood piece.

A nice little end to a fulfilling weekend; I need more of these.

Gosh, what a wonderful post! I love those books, so medieval and in them, I feel the feelings and dreams of a world that was once has been captured. Their ideas, the way they drew, .... So magical !!!! I feel inspired !!!

The keys are really interesting concept. There's something like a spell feelingy with them. I hope you will price them well and that they will sell wonderfully <3

Love the other artpieces too, the eyeball and that long, oval one..... Absolutely beautiful <3

Thank you so much!!! Yeah the keys might have a niche; not sure. Sometimes I forget not everyone is as weird as me.

How wonderful post! I like your day off, very informative. I think that I would like to go to this place. The exhibits of the books are just amazing!

Thank you; the whole museum reminds me of a Maxfield Parrish painting. I usually like LACMA in LA better but their exhibits lately have been dull lately. I need to find something inspiring; like a Munch or German expressionism exhibit.

Exhibition of Munch - a great choice! Each piece causes a real gamut of various emotions!

Looks like you had a creative time.

Yeah. it was fun. I love it when making art is as much a puzzle as it is expression. I need to either buy googly eyes or make eyeballs for the dog, think up words for the single eyeball then finish the keys and somehow hammer hangers in the back of a couple of them without ruining them; wish me luck.

Good luck! That sounds wild!
