'Divided Time'
A very symbolic photograph. The two parts of the same building are divided by a two-faced street clock. Why is a symbol of time dividing these areas? Or, maybe it is the time what is divided? Do you sometimes feel like your time is split between many things? The answers to these questions will lead you to what this photograph is about.
Lighting is a very important part of this composition. The atmosphere is achieved by a number of small light sources scattered all over the composition. Together, they create a very moody feeling. The overall mystery is further enhanced by the dark areas. I used a very structured approach to the existent architecture. The colour scheme is a gentle mix of yellowish and greenish tones in the background and a bluish touch on the clock. It works well toward supporting the mystery.
This is a double exposure done in camera. During the second exposure, I positioned the clock in the middle making sure it appears in the dark area. Most of the serious photography work is done in the author's mind, before taking the actual shot. This is an avid example.
