Black and White Vector Art from Random Photo Tutorial

in #art7 years ago

Okay...this tutorial is going to assume you know the basics of some sort of vector drawing program such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape or Vectr.  I love vector art, and this tutorial is going to cover using real images, to make vector art. Mastering the pen tool will come later, so for now, this will be done with each program auto trace tools.  I'm going to explain the creation of this image.

It looks simple enough, but is really more than just a vector drawing.  I'm goin 2 color, black and white.

I started by taking a frame from "Institut Benjamenta".

Using your vector program of choice, explore the auto trace features and test each setting and feature. What I did for this was tinker with the settings until the details emerged in the face until I was happy with the result.

I don't need those artifacts around the face, so I delete them.

He's also missing a great deal of his skull. Let's draw in some details.

Let's make it weird and unnatural by mirroring the face symmetrically.

Now he needs some hair.

Throw in the large impact word in the font of your choice.

Then box it in with a border for sticker power!

I dig the way that you were able to take that image and make it your own (and showing the steps). Followed you! :)
