Unsettled

It was a productive weekend of painting.

I cant seem to get this ocean theme out of my head. Maybe I just need to paint the right ocean before I can finally get over it. I started like I always do. With the waves, it's best to get the first three rows defined with a single layor. Then you start piling them on to give the waves the illusion of thickness.

As much as I love the ocean theme, I can never leave it alone. There is always something else going on. This time, there were rifts in the sky connected to the waves.

I wonder what these oceans symbolize.

Every movement reverberates out into the ocean. We loose track of where each wave begins but each has a story. Every man is his own universe.

love those peek throughs to the horizon

I think this is a fine painting of the subconscious, the ground (or ocean) which works to keep our consciousness on an even keel.
You might want to back off or take breaks from this sort of pursuit once in awhile. Once I was lying on a bare bed in a former Buddhist temple in Hawaii, and I decided to see how far down I could go in my consciouness. I lay there, mentally letting go of everything that came to mind, going deeper and deeper. I was way down in some wordless space when a live monkey appeared, sitting on the rail at the bottom of the bed. It was grinning in an unfunny way, looking directly at me, warning ... It scared the hell out of me. I climbed back up as fast as I could and ran outside. Never tried that again.

The sky and the ocean drips away to reveal layers of reality~ So pretty <3 I love it, @william-syrus :)
