Do not take poor substitutes as a replacement of actually living. Be with your loved ones and create lasting memories.
The man seemed happily absorbed playing with a toy train on a track inside the house, while his wife and dog patiently waits outside- a world where a real train on track can be observed, or better yet, experienced.
A lot of us are guilty of this, for sure, especially now that technology has a lot to offer in terms of indoor entertainment or pre-occupation. Many are almost always either in front of a computer or is on their mobile devices.
Little do we realize that by doing so, we may have been letting life pass us by.
We miss moments with our loved ones- friends and family.
We miss the important, because of so much focus on the unreal.
This is my interpretation of the surreal painting of Rafal Olbinski for Artchallenge #22.

Steeming happily ever after,

Beautiful one !
He misses the real train.until it goes and hits him where he plays with an unreal one. so oblivious to reality.
Agree. Sometimes we get too blind to see what's in front of us
AKA - farsightedness
The art is perfect for the post. Taking time off from technology is a great relaxer, and I find I need to be aware of how much time I'm spending in each reality.
True. We wouldn't actually say live without the other, simply find the balance.
very interesting read.
The setting is during the "steam engine" trains. If you relate this to technology (at the present time) and how pre-occupied a lot of us now, I think the picture should be the other way around... Women playing with trains and Men outside.
I don't think the "Man" was necessarily playing... he could be a "train engineer" (the man on a suit) working his ass off for his family and the wife just don't get it.
Interesting perspective.
Yeah, the man may very well be hard at work in his craft, he does give the impression of a hardworking man being in suits and all. Which leads me to the first point raised that women should be inside 'playing' with trains in current times. Thank you for stating that the women of today are as hard working, if not better workers, than the men of today.
Regardless of who does what, I think the art also depicts the distance between the couple, one wanting to do one thing, and the other doing something different. Not one person particularly at fault. Maybe something better communication lines can resolve. Like had the woman communicated clearly her wants and how significant that is, like in this case maybe take a break and have a relaxing walk outdoors, maybe the man would have understood better. Maybe the man had very important, urgent things to accomplish, and would need to schedule leisurely activities at another time, had this been clearly communicated more likely the woman would easily understand as well.
Good point on the communication part.
I think the woman tried to connect with a huge rail but it wasn't compatible enough to the man's self-centered tiny rail.
They should compromise IMHO.
What are we talking about now? 🙃 * lost*
Lol @luvabi
Agree. Compromise is the key.
Upvoted and lovely it is @dreamiely
Aw, thanks @globetrottergcc!
My Pleasure @dreamiely
Very nice interpretation i would have felt the same.
Like-minds! Pwede pala ko maging artist @errymil? 😂
This is the sad reality. And this is the downside of having too advanced technology. I always see to it that my life would be a balance of everything as I dont want to regret anything when time comes.
Good call @enjieneer! In the world we live in, balance means everything.
This one hits home. I am guilty of this, and I hated how people around me too. There are few times that I go out with my friends, and even at that, everyone is still pre-occupied with their phones.
So me and my friends here in Thailand to have a no phone rule when we meet up. It's so awesome to be able to look dirrectly on their eyes, and starts a conversation.
No phone rule- good to have. ^_^
I'm guilty of this😢😢😢. Thankyou for this awesome post😍😍😍
Lots of us are @iamrosallie. Lots of us are...
True. Sometimes we learned what most valuable to us and who matters most to us when it was already lost.
Acting out too late. sigh
