Hey guys,
this week I did some Homework for @beekart´s wonderful Artschool-Project.
Like last week, this weeks theme is "Negative Space".
For this week Rogier has a few extra exercises that will help us get better at drawing faces / portraits and finding likeness!
Exercise 1 - Negative Space
The Exercise:
Just like last week! Please do some blind contours from poses on posemaniacs.com or other pose-photos.
I would be happy if you did 4 I would be super happy if you did 8 .. And I will send you 1 SBD if you 12!
So let´s do this :)
Exercise 2 - Simplification
Please take at least 3 portrait photo’s and simplify them like I did here ^
Okidoki, I´ll try ^^
First Portrait:
Second Portrait:
Third Portrait:
Fourth Portrait:
That´s it for now.
I hope Rogier is satisfied with my homework for this week.
It really was fun doing, and I have the feelng I´ve learned a lot.
Join the fun and do your homework too! :)
Have a nice day and steem on!
Cheers,
@w0olf
Hey mate! Thank you for participating! :)
All the exercises look great, exactly how I hoped it would turn out..
Your aren't leaving much room to critique really! :D
So here I'll go nitpicking..
The blind contours are 1on1 almost.. i don't know how you did that.. you must've done this before?
If you haven't ur insane and you must probably challenge urself more by doing them in 1 continuous line without looking at your sketchbook.(would love to see you do these on paper too.)
The simplification of shapes on the face are great, i do see a few value grouping that i think aren't as close to one another but with the moving gifs it is hard to see.. i do see that you understand the concept / exercise which is nice! People who participate in this week could take a look at your post here and see how its done! So i'm sure this is helpful to others!
Again, thanks for participating!
I'll send you that 1SBD asap! ;)
Happy newyear!
Cheers
Rogier
Oh I used to do a lot blind contours in Art School years ago. We needed that to understand room and perspective for drawing and sculpting. ;) So I'm not insane 😄
But like I said it's years ago.
After new year I will do a few traditional ones In my sketchbook. It's a great exercise and I realized I missed this kind of warm-up.
The simplification of the faces is something new to me, and it's really helpful to try not seeing a face, but only the shapes of light and shadow.
Thanks for this great Art school series @beekart. Looking forward to the next lesson.
Happy New Year to you too Rogier!
Cheers,
Wolf
