Today we want to talk a little about our vision for ArtShares, some of the policies and practices we are adopting and others that are still under consideration. What are our future plans, and how you can participate and contribute.
ArtShares ultimate goal is to help artists, curators, and regular folks find and support each other through art. What we are doing is creating various services and initiatives to motivate user interaction in a decentralized network. Thanks to the blockchain and Steem in particular, now this is possible!
For now, we are operating in beta mode, meaning we are still working things out. Just like every new project, it will need some time to grow and flourish. Of course, we are open to discussions and suggestions, help is always welcome! Just like everybody, we are embarking in this uncharted territory for the first time, and we learn as we go along. Always feel free to express an opinion. We value each and every one of you out there.
So let’s break down our operation in two major groups: free and paid.
Free services:
Our services can also be split into automated and manual. Our bot is taking care of the automatic voting, while our editor is curating the content.
The bot will cast a light vote for every post containing the tag #artshares. The editor is monitoring strictly what content is being upvoted, in order to avoid tag abuse. All abusers will be added to the bot’s blacklist.

Online = the bot is running.
Sleep mode = the bot is not active until it regenerates to 100% voting power.
Safe mode = the bot is casting light votes until it regenerates to 100% voting power.
The bot will go into Sleep mode or Safe mode if its voting power drops below 80%.
All featured (resteemed) posts on our feed will receive a manual Heavy upvote from our editor.
Heavy and Light votes are the two types of votes we are casting. Depending on the situation we will cast the appropriate one. Posts that are featured on our feed or the editor like will receive a bigger portion of the remaining voting power. Heavy votes will also be reserved for our future paid services.

These are our current running free services. We also plan to offer free promotion for the Promoted tab on Steemit to increase visibility to selected posts. We are still considering the rules which posts to be selected. Any suggestions?
Paid services:
Currently, we are still working out the policy on paid services. As for now, we offer only the free ones. We plan to launch an exclusive pay-for-vote service targeted only at verified authors. The plan is to “double the profit”. If an author sends us, for example, 1$ worth of Steem, he will receive a 2$ vote. This process will be manual, to eliminate abuse. If a post is not fit for promotion it will get refunded. As stated, the idea is to have an exclusive service that only selected people can use, instead of having just another pay-for-vote service.
